I'm here
'76 Duster, 2.45 gears, P235/60r15 tires, stock 904 and stock converter, stock exhaust manifolds with duals, stock low compression 360 long block (yes, stock heads) that I added a 4bbl (600 eddy/Action plus intake) and .427/.454 lift cam 204*@.050. (less than a stock 340 cam). I was impressed. It did better than I thought it would.

not bad at all!

Cool. What do you have for mufflers & @ what size?
Oh! And a 2.06 with the big tires and super 2.45 Hwy gear isn't to shabby.

Yes and a highway car as well no OD needed. Nothing like hyundias passing u while buzzing like a chain saw at 60.
U have a good simple receipt for torque that's what can pull a 2.45 gear. Learned that lesson in the 70s w a 65 Olds
98 with a 425ci and highway gears that torque monster did not lose a lot of races ask my buddy w 71 LT1 vette w gears.

If you can find a shorter pair of tires, see how it reacts with an increased overall drive ratio.

Runs good.

Holy chit man! That's way better than I expected. I thought those gears were really gonna keep you stuck in the 15s!!! Some 3.73s out back and you'll be well into the 13s!!!

Amazing with those gears- Car must be light
Not the lightest A-body for sure. Bumpers are heavier and has the fold down rear seat. I did go to manual steering/brakes. I would guess it around 3300 lbs without driver..... never weighed it though

i have used that cam in an otherwise stock 340 with 3.23 rear and 14 inch tires. It is the same lift as the stock 340 cam with a little less duration and acceleration was extremely strong.
Nice run!

1976 Plymouth Duster, fastback coupe, weight: 2,975
No way this car weighs 2975. That must be a feather Duster with /6 and 7 1/4 rear.
  • My '74 duster with the 318 is lighter and it weighed 3180 with 1/4 tank of gas (no driver). It does not have the "shock" bumper in the front like my '76. It has a 7 1/4 rear end. Smaller 14" rims/tires in back. No stabilizer bar. Drum brakes in the front. /6 torsion bars.
Naw, I'd be lucky if my '76 was 3300 by itself, but might be closer to 3400. I'll weigh it sometime and post it.

That's pretty darn good for the gearing etc.
This combo really works!
Thanks for posting..........

Yeah, a little better than I expected. But ya know, if I drop .3 tenths, I'll run a 13.99 :D It'll return to the strip sometime, after I tweak another .3 by the "seat of the pants" out of town. My "seat" dyno is pretty accurate... LOL................. :)

1970-1976 Plymouth Duster

Thats great, looking forward to improved time.

I picked up two tenths switching from those mufflers to pypes race pro's. It also stopped droneing at 2500 rpms. Race pro's NOT the violators! Car isn't any louder either.
