its a valiant sorry65 valiant wagon? or dart?
that what i was thinking here a link to my 64 tell i find out how to put them up on here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2923907 and this is the link to the wagon as it set treee and allI consider a "rat rod" a work in progess - something that you can cruz with pride (as soon as it rolls) while you are being more ambissious with your long term "vision." No trim, primer, beat down interior, it's all good!
thats what i tout of to tell i started me 92 dodge dakota lolI think of rat rods usually being pre 60s cars. But I would drive it anyway I could, rat or not.
the rat rod thing was cool before it became the new fad. now its just stupid and over done... and the whole lets make my car look like crap is what i don't understand. tyhe rat rod look in my opinion isn't the look the guys back in the day were going for. it was a point in the build. they built stuff from all kinds of things as time and money allowed. they didn't set out to build a half finished car. that was just a point in the build process in my opinion.

I feel the need to point out a distinction between a "traditional" rod and a "rat" rod. A traditional rod is a well-put-together machine using period correct or vintage parts, no matter what the lineage. It might have rust or patina but is true to a period-correct build. A rat rod is usually an over-the-top piece of junk built to garner attention to the driver. They are usually under-engineered for safety and overcompensate with crazy looks. Air bags do not belong on a traditional car, IMO. I love real patina but appreciate the work and attention to detail that goes into a shiny car much more. Anyone with half a brain about cars should be able to tell a properly built hot rod from a pile of crap.
And all the hating aside.....you gotta admit.
When they are done right....they are pretty cool cars.
Takes a lot of imagination to build something out of crap that actually looks good.
Takes no imagination to make something that looks good look like crap.
