Reading fender tags and vin

Hello I have a 69 318 4 speed barracuda all numbers matching however the engine has been built and it has a 8&3/4 rear with 3.90s or .91 or whatever.

I'm sure it was not born with that ratio but what I'd like to know is was a 318 4 speed car born with an 8&3/4 ring and pinion or has someone upgraded this.

Also I don't see where it's coded into the fender tag or the Vin

It won't be in the VIN

It will only be on the fender tag if it had an optional axle ratio. 3.55 or 3.91. A36 or A31. Do you hive either of those codes? I don't know if those were available with a 318 or not.

Other than these two codes nothing will be on the fender tag about the rear axle.

You need the broadcast sheet to determine what rear ratio was in the car when built on a 69...

If it were born with a 3.55 or a 3.91 and had power steering the pump would have a cooler on it unless the pump and cooler were removed/changed.
