Rear tire width max for 67 Barracuda

-
8" will be ok I actually measured a BFG 255 and the actual tread was 8.25"
That will actually make finding rims easier.

Looks nice Dan I like the way your car sits and looks! What size wheel and tire do you have in the front?

why buy from summit, when you can buy for the same price or cheaper w/ free shipping from someone that races and wins w/ a mopar. besides summit just bought greg anderson, he was a winner before summit ever came along.
I do all my buying w/ jegs ":coffee2:JUST BECAUSE HE RACES A MOPAR PROSTOCKER"-------just my 2 cents-----bob

They come up here used all the time, I think I paid 800 for 4 wheeels with like new tires in amall bolt pattern, I didnt hesitate because there getting hard to find. 255/60/15 on 8 inch wheel fits no problem, Ive looked at mine and I think a 265 will fit but 275 is definatly to close for comfort. good luck.

Nothing against Summit or JEGS, I've used both, but in this case I'm going to "Buy Local" from either a speed shop or tire dealer that are near me. They have the same price or better. Thanks for the advice guys.

I just Bought a '67' Cuda Fastback and plan on putting Cragar S/S 15x7" 4 1/8" backspacing, +3mm offset with M/T ST 225/60 Radials on Front. Back will have: 15x8" Cragars w 4 1/4" backspacing, -6mm offset & 275/15 M/T ST Radials. Car has 5x4" Bolt Pattern, No Front or Rear Suspension Mods. Allof this Should Fit, Correct? Do I need to make any Changes. Thanks.

Thanks AdamR.....What if I have the Rear Fenders Rolled, 275/60's be OK. btw, love your Cuda.........TY, Steve P.

You dont need to roll the 1/4s to fit any of them if the backspacing is correct. 15X8 with a 4.5" backspacing should be perfect. Mine were 15X8.5 with a 4-7/8" back spacing. Even the 255-60-15s were real close to the springs till I moved them. The 325-50-15s were to wide for the rims so I swapped them for the 275-60-15s which were perfect but would have been to wide on those rims with the stock spring location.

I later mini tubbed it and could have easily fit a 14" wide tread under it.

I scored an almost brand new set of 15 x 8 inch Cragar SS with the 4 inch pattern and 295\50/15 BF Goodrich tires. Bolted right in but felt they were too close to the leaf spring so added a 5/16" spacer and man, do they look sweet under there now. Running 155/80/15 up front.
4 1/4 inch of backspacing by my measurements.

I know you probably want to keep your tires under the fender lip but I thought I would post my tires for anyone else who might want to know the max width (without having the tires stick out) on a car that's jacked-up like mine. I'm running 295-50R15s . I moved the springs in 3/4". Now I'm looking for some 15X12 rims cuz I'm sure I can use 12" wide tires and looks like they would come out flush with the outside fender lip.
I'm sure you noticed I'm going for that mid 60's street car look, just like the ones I used to drive back in the day!!!! I even managed to find some old slotted wheels from the 60s, polished them for days!!!LOL

You would only need spacers if you don't have the correct "rim" back space. If you get the correct back space the tires and rims should fit perfect.

I have changed my Strategy....I'm going with : Wheel Vitiques 15x7" in. Fronts with 4 I/4" backspace+6 mm offset, 235/60/15" tires. Rear will be: 15x8in. 4 5/8" backspace+3mm offset..275/60/15" tires. Should be No Problems with spring clearance or fenders. What ya Think? SP. All replies welcome.

For my 2 cents worth rears should be fine. I run 275/60/15 with 8 inch rims 4.5 backspace and they fit perfectly inside the wheel lip with no rub. But I do also have inset leaf springs using the Dr Diff kit which moves them in I think from vague memory 1/2". 275 rears sure do look good on our cars.

think i'll do 255/60/15 with wheel vintiques 4 5/8" backspace 15x8". and roll rear fenders.........

I am running BFG 245/60/14's in the rear, BFG 235/60/14's in front! Only issue was a little rubbing on the rear lip when I hit a bump in the road, my leaf springs are sagging, so installed air shocks to raise it 1 inch, until I replace the leafs!!

Let me throw a spanner in the gears!

Would a rear disc brake conversion affect the tire width capacity?
