For me it was 1972. I bought a 66 Valiant 100 with a 170 three on the tree. It had a wrecked front fender and a bad water pump. I paid a whopping $16.00 for it.

My 65 Dart sounds like the same car. 65 Dart 270 post car, white with a black painted on top (fake vinyl) and a red interior. It had a Charger 273 and a 3 on the tree. It also had a crinkled drivers fender. $100 and a 100cc Yamaha in trade. I have 1 photo but I haven't been able to find.

for me mid-late 70's - 68 charger 383 auto, green with white interior. broken timing chain I paid $25.00 for it.. sold it and bought 67 barracuda convertible with a 383 in it for 300.00 lol

For me - it was a 71 Green/green Demon bought brand new off the dealer's lot.

Nope! Too many years ago. I forgot already what I had for Breakfast yesterday. Lol

Bought in 1991, 1972 4 door dart. It was mint condition and I paid $250 for it.

1972 Duster, 318 auto. Bought it in 1979 at the original Manheim auto auction for $440. Aftermarket yellow stripes on red paint. Slot wheels with L60's in the back.

Not too long after I bought it I found out what spider gears were!!!

My dad bought me a 65 Formula S Cuda in 1980 for my first car. I still have it! 65'

67 Dart, 273/904. This was in the late 70's when I was driving tow trucks, and got the call to tow this. It had spun a timing chain. After prepping the car, unbeknownst to me the VERY aged owner opened the driver's door which let the steering wheel rope fall off, which meant when I took the first corner the door opened and hit a dumpster, folding it flat against the LF fender. I wound up buying it for maybe a couple of Benjamins. Wish I still had it...

56 Plymouth, Savoy, 2 door post car. -- That was in the early 60s. Have had several since then.

Absolutely I remember as it was the first transmission swap I ever did and I was 13 years old.
Did it completely by myself too.:D
I got it free and one of my Dad's friends gave me a trans they had sitting around.
1958 Chrysler Windsor, same colors and in just about the condition of this one.

Mine was a 64 valiant I bought in the late 80's. Had a blown slanty in it. Put a new motor in and drive it a while. Sold it up a friend. He drove it a while and I bought it back. Dropped a 360 in it. Then a few years later dropped a 440 in it.

Back in 1981 when i was 18, i bought a '71 Dart Custom 4 door with a 225 slant 6 and an auto trans on the column with my first tax return.
It was a great car to me, i paid $700 for it and it was in great shape with original nice paint and interior B5 B5 for both.
For some reason though, it liked to eat dip sticks...........

i bought my first mopar in 1973 when i was 17. it was a 1971 dodge charger , 318,hemi orange, black vinyl top. crager ss mags all the way around f 60s in the front m 50s in the back

57 Plymouth 2dr post flathead 6 with 2spd auto 1965. IT had a broken band in the trans. Replaced it myself, Paid $50 bucks for the car. I was 17.

It's in my Avatar behind my barracuda..
70 Charger SE 383 Mag EW1 with Green int. lots of options....
Sold it 2 yrs ago.

In HS '73 I bought my first, a '66 Sport Fury off a small car lot. It was just under 200 out the door as I recall. Dark blue paint, black interior, with the 383 4 bbl, power steering, manual brakes, auto on the floor, wing window air conditioning. Next to it on the lot sat a mod top Barracuda. I thought it was a girly car back then. Was also looking at a '66 Mustang and a '65 Chevelle (old Ni-Gas car) at the time. Both had 6 cyls. I made the better choice I believe.

Similar to this.....

Mine's hard to forget, as it's still in the garage. '73 Challenger, originally a 318 2 bbl, 904, with hubcaps... been through a few changes since then, however. Traded my cousin a 6 month old Honda 700 for it in the spring of 1986, he bought it from the first owner in 1977. I brought my first kid home from the hospital in it, and she gets it in the will.

For me it was 1981 and a 1968 Plymouth GTX. Had a 383 transplant that I blew up in short order. Bought a '68 440 long block out of a junk yard & put '67 closed chamber heads on it while working in shop class. Was labeled "fastest in school" shortly after that. Have had a Mopar ever since.

Still got it too

2008 awd charger
Bought it in 2009 with 80K on it

Great winterbeater

A beat up 68 Road Runner with a 383 2 bbl, someone swapped out the motor but the price was right and I was 16. I put on a 4 bbl and it ran o.k. but still a 2 bbl motor. It was a lot of fun for a 16 year old.

It was a light green dream... A 1962 mint green road toad. No power nothing and I was just learning to drive. I remember my frustrated father saying "it will turn better if you're moving". It was easier but not better. It was typical 60's steering with about a foot of play. Also smelled like a cat.
