Hey everyone,

Curious if anyone could give me some tips on installing a remote oil filter for the 360 I'm putting in my 1975 Duster. Are there any mods that I need to make to the oil filter mounting location on the block? Anyone possibly willing to share parts numbers for what they used? Much appreciated!

Drill and tap the block. Don’t use a bolt on plate to get your hose connections.

-10 minimum hose size.

Keep the hoses as short as you can.

Hopefully you are running a HV pump.

Try and mount the filter so it’s as close to the oil level in the pan as you can. And keep the filter as close to vertical as you can. You have to fill the lines every time you fire it up.

Why use a remote filter?

Just a thought, I'm between a 90° filter or doing a remote filter.

I have drilled and tapped my block for a remote filter.

Had it all plumbed up on the run in stand (before I got the dyno) and used it.

When I went to fit it in the car it became problematic. There wasn’t a lot of room for the -10 hoses. I couldn’t find a good location to mount the filter that kept is low enough and at least mostly vertical so I just put the 90 degree adapter on it.

For me, the idea of it was outstanding. The practical aspect of installation was problematic.

I'm went with a Canton Adapter Block Plate with steel braided lines and a dual filter manifold. I like to run the Jomar 100% no bypass filters, so all my oil is filtered 100% of the time. Also running a Canton Thermostat to an oil cooler with fan, as I have a half-filled block.
