Is there a secret to removing the oil dipstick tube from the block? Mine’s broke off where it enters the block, and the stub is still in there.
I’m not sure what size hole it is but I just use a Slightly smaller old drill bit (the unfluted end) inserted and gently drift it out with a brass hammerRemove the oil pan and knock it out from the inside. Every time I've tried the screw trick, it swells the tube up and locks it down more. I've never been that lucky.
I’ve tried that. Seems I have either too small or too big piece of rod to knock it out from inside. The stub is only about an inch long and down the hole.Remove the oil pan and knock it out from the inside. Every time I've tried the screw trick, it swells the tube up and locks it down more. Dont have rest of the tube... gonna have to buy new one.Is the tube gonna live? If not, cut some off and use it to knock what's in the block out.
I agree with Rusty. Had same problem with my 360. Even out and on the engine stand it took time and patience to get it out. Used a long tapered punch with a good edge and it eventually broke free. Thanks again guys!!! Drill bit. method worked... 11/32” bit if anyone needs to do it.I went through that, had a pita time with it, tried the screw trick, tried a bolt, and a punch, finally got it with a piece of ready rod.
