Replacing Gaskets on 90 degree oil filter adapter

What happens is theres a drip of oil on the bolt head and people crawl under to get an extra 1/4 turn with a big old wrench

heat it with a torch till it's red and then let it air cool.

Yep, there's a bolt a guy makes on his CNC machine. Fast Fish out of one of the Carolinas? That one is the response to the OEM replacement is different lengths. There is a different under-head bolt length. Early vs Late? 273 90 deg. or 340 90 deg.?

I bought one since in addition to being strong it was supposed to increase flow

Some kits come with a new heavy wall bolt, have seen quite a few originals twisted because they were to thin and someone tightened them to much.

Weve had about 5 days or horribly strong winds so I put it off until it calmed down. Didnt want dust,dirt and leaves blowing all over under the car while I have that oily thing apart. Lol. Im going to try and get it done tomorrow morning. I had one last question,how do you ensure the large gasket that goes around the perimeter stays lined up when you put the piece against the block? Is there an indentation in the side of the engine block that you insert the gasket into and it will stay lined up when you put the two pieces together

It may or my not. You could put a couple of dabs of grease or silicone to hold it for a moment. Then get the body in there and get the bolt snugged.

there's an indentation where the gasket rides. i like to use hi-tack or contact cement to hold it, just a little bit. like cruze said, a few dabs of sticky grease will work too.
