rpm limits of stock crank

Well you know its an 84 Woody. I cant vouch for what I cant see.All that wood could be hiding something.Dust is getting in somewhere tho.
And as to the pan, I thought that was factory original. .
I'll tell you this too, shes still got some spunk left in her.Just last week, I almost got in a bad situation, but when I floored it, Ole Betsy came thru for me.Knocks no worse than before, so that motor should go a long ways yet.
So I wanted to ask you about those heads. You said the had a pretty good porting job on em, right? So, I was thinking, if they're gonna pass some serious air, am I gonna have to get a bigger carb? And if so, what would you recommend?
Thanks for all the help. Like I said, Betsys on her way.

Baker,
Me too. Lifes like that. Just when you think you must be the best at what you do, some young punk who doesnt even know what points are, comes along and one-ups you. I hate that. But I hate Phartcans worse.
lol

Well im a believer in multi carburetion. I think a 1 off manifold, that will allow a single holley 500cfm 2bbl per cylinder would be awesome. I have been hearing about people on some forrums that have been taking one butterfly out of each carb, since this allows more cfm!

Lmao

Multi carbs you say?Well that makes sense for 10,000 rpm.But Im a little concerned about deleting the one blade per carb. I think I'll try and figure out a way to stage those 2bbls. That way she could still idle with those big heads of yours sucking hard, through that custom sonic speed billet aluminum airgapped mother of all manifolds, I just ordered .

Idle is overatated! havnt you heard of this, a CVT?

Okay. I just know this is gonna hurt. But I'll bite.Yes Ima sitting, and no, my mouth is empty.
So tell me; Hows my super-turbine-bullet, super-speedway OHV-HO-10,000RPM, pushrod, world beating V8, gonna benefit from TVC?

Sheesh, Im already laughing in anticipation

THx for the BD wishes

My youngest(of 3),my only son will be 31 at the end of August.
So Im thinking your oldest is or will be driving soon? Fun times, ahead.
Yep he is learning to drive my beat up old chevy truck. NOT fun times!!!!! Freaks me out man! :puke:

Well first off, you have the sound of the engine turning 10,000 rpm all the time, thats just badass! Hard part is finding a cam that will make peak torque close to 10k, you know where its most efficient! get the RPMs too low or too high you lose the great economy that a CVT can give you. Well thats pretty much it, everything that i have driven that had a CVT has pretty much sucked.

Oh , you mean CVT!
I thought you meant VCT.
Thats different then.
I was thinking with a 10G redline, that rocketmotor would have a pretty good powerband.I was thinking of running a 1-spd,and hooking the driveshaft straight to the rearend. But if I cant make it idle, Ima gonna have troubles putting it in gear, without launching into outerspace.I guess the ride out would be ok.
But sticking the landing?IDK

Oh your talking about variable cam timing!!?? I didnt even think about that! Could you imagin that engine when the R-spec Vtec kicked in!

10,000 RPM has more benefits than you think. I like to wind my Briggs and Stratton mower up to 10.000 RPM and then drop a few potato's down the 1000cfm carb .Man, you should taste those potato crisps that come out of the other end... yum... the secret is running extra virgin olive oil in the engine.. Running a 360 to 10,000RPM could only mean more chips in less time and with that extraordinary Mopar after taste...
