Anybody got any suggestions? I can't even enjoy being home with my family. I can't walk or play with my 4 year old either. This is the worst it has ever been.

Epsom salt and ice are the two fastest things sides a cortizone shot.

Drink Cherry juice the real stuff not the mix, it works. Its hard to find in the stores but the Health food or vitamin stores usually have it. Also comes in a pill.

Hope by now it's getting better! I know Advil or Aleve are given for acute gout. My step-mom's an RN, I will ask her advice in the morning and let you know what she says. I also have heard that cherry juice helps.

Yeah, just make sure you don't take aspirin. Some say that real apple cider vinegar can help, too. Real, as in with the "mother" or chunkies. Not pasteurized.

And lots and lots of water. You have crystals of uric aid in your joints, and you need to dissolve them and flush them out of there.

Avoid shellfish and red meats.

Go to your doctor. Get your blood tested for high uric acid level. Get a prescription for Urecholine. Adjust your diet accordingly.

Idid the cherry juice and also black cherry extract from health food store and it helped me. When I did go to the doc, my sugar was high from drinking all the constrated cherry juice. Some times you just can't win.

Allopurinol is what I am on right now. I forgot to take it for a few days during my travel back to the states and apparently I can't miss even one day. I have an appointment with the doc later today we'll see what he/she says.

Ok, the RN has these suggestions, go to a minor emergency place, they will know what medicine to give to treat gout and give you something for pain. Take more frequent doses of the generic equivalent of Aleve (cheaper), and black cherry juice. Hope you're feeling better!

the apple cider vinegar helped me alot. mix about three table spoons with a mug of water then add a table spoon or two of honey and it makes an ok tasting tea. also if that doesnt work try baking soda. just follow the directions on the back of the box. i believe its a half teaspoon to like 6 oz of water. helped me a bit before i tried the apple cider vinegar, but alot of people say they take it two to three times a day and the pain is gone in about two days. just depends on your body i guess. also everyone else is right make sure the ACV has "the mother" in it. good luck gout sucks.
