Small block head swap

Is it possible to do a head swap with the engine still in the car I'm wanting to do a magnum head swap but I just don't know if it's possible to do it with headers or not in a 71 duster

Ok I just didn't know looking at it didn't look bad the car was originally a slant six car so this shouldn't be as bad as it took 4 hours to put headers on

went you pull the heads...you dont have to take the headers off...

I have to un bolt them I'm not going to take them out of the car I was just wondering if I had enough room to pull then out of the way to get to the bottom head bolts

yes...you will probably have to unbolt the header at the collector to get some wiggle room....done it a thousand times...

I don't have a full exhaust system so shouldn't be too much of a problem this car is a street strip build more strip then street this is my first a body

I've never had a vehicle (all makes) that I couldn't do a head swap with the engine in the car. Some are easier than others, but a small block Dart/Duster is easy. Just undue the headers and tie them back to your hood latches to keep them out of the way while your working.

ITs the one lower bolt between the 3-5. 4-6 exhaust ports that is tough to get to if your inner fenders are tight. Yank em, just watch your back.

Well nothing has been easy on this thing is why I asked I mean it took 4 hours to put headers on is the only reason I asked

That's the normal amount of time to put headers on/in a small block A body if your any good at car stuff. Some guys take all day or even two days. (No, I'm not joking.)

did it twice last year with headers on, wasnt much fun on the demon though with head studs, driver side was a *****. nothin to it with head bolts!

Ok now let me ask since Ill get to the head swap well I shooting for 11 sec range in the quarter with my roller 318 magnum heads roller whiplash cam duel plane 175 shot edelbrock 750 msd 6al 727 with manuel vavle body is it possible to get it in to the 11 sec range or do I have high hopes

The first question should be what heads do you have now. I'm not in love with the magnum head like many are. But I have a flow bench. And a dyno.
