That sounds awful! I’d fine a good mechanic that can tune that “miss” out of it!!:poke:

Just kidding! Sounds pretty rowdy!!

Now it's Gladys' turn. lol

Oh, sure! That figures! You wait until it’s colder than hell here, and both of my Bumpsides are settled-in for a long winters nap, to post a video like that! How the hell’s a guy supposed to respond and “one-up” ya?

:lol::poke:

But seriously, I love that sound! Nicely done!

Thanks. The 400 is one of Ford's ignored motors. Everybody thinks their smog junk, so that made me want to do it all the more. It pulls like a ***** in church.

I had a ‘73 Ranchero from OK that used to sound like that. 400, C6, and 3.55’s through a 9”. Don’t recall the compression, but when I built it (‘93-ish) there were only 2 pistons available for it if memory serves…and since I was working for NAPA at the time, of course I went with the highest compression option.

I used to tell people it was “just a 351M”, as not too many people could eyeball that taller deck height.

And, yeah! Built right, they can be really stout engines, and like Rodney Dangerfield, they don’t get no respect.

I LIKE it!

The 351M is a tall deck too. The 351C is the short deck. They are all Clevelands. The only differences in the 351M and 400 are the crank and pistons. I have the 351M I pulled out of it and if I can ever find a 400 crank, I was thinkin about buildin another 400.

A cheap one. lol Some kinda Motorola. It's a Moto G Play 2024....whatever that means.
You must be ahead of me on knowing how to set it up. I shot this video with the latest galaxy at the time and it didn't come out very good but I was too lazy to go back and re shoot it

And M engines have a big block bell housing pattern the 351C has a small block pattern

All of them do, yes, but the early first year 400s had both the small block and big block bellhousing patterns. How's that for weirdness? The 351M and 400 also all shared the 460 motor mounts and distributor. That's why a lot of people think they are big blocks, but they are not. They are small blocks, just like the 351C, just with a taller deck. All the Windsor heads will bolt on....but won't work of course, the they share the same bore spacing and the same head bolt pattern. You can make the 351c, M and 400 heads work on all the Windsor engines, but not the other way around.

The Valiant does sound good from the back.

It could pass for a V8!

I love that truck and you have it running so good! I didn't set anything up. I just mashed the record button. lol

My God, do I feel stupid now! Don’t know what the hell I was thinking mentioning the deck height, but the fact that I was corrected on this on a Mopar site….

Too many years sniffing refrigerants instead of working on cars, I guess.

Don't you dare feel stupid! The Ford engine family is one of the most extensive on the planet. It's unbelievable. Families within families. Look at the FE family. You have the standard passenger car and light truck FE, then the medium duty truck FE, both of which are totally different and take different heads, intakes, exhaust and front accessory drives. Displacements from 330 to 428. And some can be very confusing. The 360 and 390 for example, have medium duty truck variants VERY close in displacement at 361 and 391 respectively. And if that's not enough, The 428 had like FIVE variations AND THEN also had a medium duty truck variation COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the passenger car/light truck line. And that's just ONE FAMILY of Ford engines. LOL
