Jeff Gordon won the Kobalt 400 pole on Friday, but Saturday's crash in practice means he'll start at the back of the pack in Sunday's Sprint Cup race.
LAS VEGAS -- Pole winner Jeff Gordon will start Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from the back of the field after damaging his car in the closing stages of the final practice session for the Kobalt Tools 400.

Danica Patrick spun her car exiting Turn 2 in front of Gordon, who did not have time or room to react before his No. 24 Chevrolet run by Hendrick Motorsports incurred contact that will force him into a backup car for Sunday's 267-lap contest.

"Danica spun out and we hit her," Gordon reported over his radio.

Gordon did not speak to the media after the incident, but he expressed his disappointment via Twitter. He was 14th-fastest driver in the practice session.

Patrick was not the only driver to struggle in Saturday's warmer conditions. David Ragan, subbing for the injured Kyle Busch for Joe Gibbs Racing, also brushed the wall in the No. 18 Toyota.

"Had a handful on last run and slapped the wall," Ragan said in a tweet. "We will be ready to roll from the back tomorrow. Cars 2 pass and moves to make!"

LOL!

Get rid of that f--ing "d-bag"..she is NOT good for the sport!!!

I'm finally beginning to see the light on Danica.....I really wanted to see her succeed but she just cannot drive at the top level. I still wish her well but I think she may be in her last year in top notch equipment.

Hate away haters...lets see how long it takes the FOUR time champ to get back up to the front...Go Hendrick cars...:cheers:

Ya it was about Danicrash..until the haters chimed-in...by the way EVERYONE knows she can't drive:violent1::violent1:

Where did she qualify? If she spins again....she could take the 24 out twice in the same weekend....just like Hamlin did to her lmao!!! I bet she starts in the back right next to Jeffrey :finga:

She's never going away, too many woman spectators
and she's the draw like in big time wrestling.
Same crowd mentality, different venue. :angel12:

It takes some more time than others. :)

Welcome!

As long as Ho-daddy is backing her, Tony will pimp that girl and her contract, employing hundreds of body/fab guys. See she's good for the employment numbers.

The girl that "can't drive" starts 21st today. Better than 22 other "pros". You guys have no idea what you are talking about.

Don't get me wrong...she is a good driver but at this level she needs to start showing improvement to be a top notch driver and it's just not happening. I'll continue to wish her well and defend her when necessary but damn she just keeps making these dumb little mistakes.

So what! Who in A+ equipment is she ahead of? Maybe 5 and that includes her BF who she's sucked the racing life out of apparently. I don't consider Roush A+ equipment anymore.

Panica is in A+ level equipment. Same type of stuff that Johnson, Gordon, Edwards, Harvick are in. What's she do with it? 0 top 5's, 4 top 10's and 8 top 15 finishes in 80+ races. 27th and 28th in points, worst (IIRC) among any driver not in "field filler" equipment

When she has led a race, she looks scared to death (Nationwide in Montreal, Road America), got run down like raw meat being chased by rabid dogs (Indy), or lucked into a win on fuel mileage.

Compare her results and ability to rookie year Kyle Larson over 36 races (8 top 5, 17 top 10's)... Larson can wheel a car, Panica can market the **** out of stuff! Which one gets results on the track?

She's always been marginal at best with a great marketing approach.

If she had a *****, she wouldn't be in that ride. PERIOD!

I think she is under a lot of pressure from her inherent publicity.

Let it ride. See what shakes down, or doesn't.

Look at Peyton Manning. Same ****, different story, but at least he's got injuries to blame on the last half of his last season.

Having a daredevil mind is critical when you are high profile. Some people are really tapped out by it, while others, some new, some not so new, have a big problem with stage fright. Anybody new would have trouble up against seasoned drivers. Stacking something that heavy on top of a tipsy scale with all of the stereotyping she's got to manage and its bound to happen.

Who ever said that someone needs to grow a pair? Testies squeal if you look at them funny. Cant even handle cold water. Now a VJ, that thing can take a pounding! She's got more brass than anyone out there. Who's the badass? Mike Tyson, or the guy who tries to take him out?

Dave, what a bunch of total liberal psycho babble BULLSHIT.

I say her takin out Gordon is a wet dream come true, only who did she blame for it this time?.

Doesn't matter where you start..matters where you finish..and she won't be in the winners circle ever unless everyone else crashes...:D:D

Right, or unless someone pushes her across the finish line.
