Hello,

I need some help.
The car is a 1967 Barracuda.

The speedo suddenly started reading about three times the actual speed, and at around 40 mph the needle became pegged and broke off. (and the stub continued around the clock...)
I assumed it was the cable so I replaced the it and repaired the needle. It was fixed for only a few miles and then repeated the stunt and broke the needle again.

Is the problem in the meter or the cable?

The car is. 4-speed if it makes any difference.

Thanks

Speedometer I bet. Pain in the keester, but have u pulled speedometer?
The back of them can get "dirty". They operate off of a magnet on the back.
Good luck

I would say it’s the speedo head. U will need to send it away to be repaired or put a different on in if ur state allows it. Kim
