I was hoping to find out if you machined out the mounting holes on a 71 duster/demon drum lower ball joints to fit the 73 or later spindals bolt holes would this work

Yep some have threaded holes in the spindles. Other have bolts through with nuts. You wouldn't be the first to drill the threads out of those holes.

That's not going to be able to work.
The center to center spacing of the ball joint mounting holes are way different between the 71 and the 73.
72 and earlier ball joints are drilled at a 3 7/8 inch center to center spacing, and the 73-76 spindles are drilled at a 4 3/8 inch, center to center spacing.
So, if you now have 73-76 spindles on your conversion, you need 73-76 lower ball joints to bolt up to the spindles.

Why did you buy another pair of lower control arms?
Your car allready has the same thing on it.
No difference in control arms, except where sway bar mount tabs were welded onto them, in different positions throughout the years.

the lower control arms on the car a 1971 dodge demon are stock 10 inch drum brake, so i was under the assumption that the ball joint it self is larger on 73 models and would not fit in to the 71 control arm is this correct?; because from what you are saying it sounds like i could mount 73 lower ball joints on to a 71 control arm right?

p.s. the car doesn't have a sway bar nor do i plan on installing one the only thing i am concerned in doing is putting bbp disk brakes on the car

You leave the lower control arms alone.
The UPPER control arms get changed.
