then after HS i moved to Sacramento and then the fun began! i started goint to he track every wensday for free with all the car guys from school!

started out running a 20.20 on the first run, and over the period of maybe 3 months i got it down to a 18.3 and beat a LS! camero!

so after some fun the oil pressure started dropping rapidly! so after 300k on the motor it was time for a rebuild. so the 6 came out for a rebuild, i painted the engine compartment, installed .890 torsion bars, and got to work on the slant!

ok so i figure i can add some more to this!

so assembled the engine while at wyotech

finshed school and most of the AWB

then moved to Phoenix Az and gave a look!

So after moving to Az and 6k miles things went sound...

started smoking and running rough... no good... comp test was really bad...

so i yanked it and broke it down...

two broken top rings and a blown exhaust gasket

so new parts were ordered, the block sent out to be honed and decked more more comp:snakeman:, like 9.8:1

so got the parts in and back, and started assembly!

made a deep sump pan, from 2 qts in the sump to 4.5

so the short block is done!

so now that we are caught up, this week i installed the door pin kits on both sides and gapped the doors! so nice not having to lift the doors to shut them!

also adj the front sheet metal and installed hood pins...

so back to the engine, wanted to clean the head, broke it down and found this...

the exhaust guides were way to loose (.003-.005) and the exhaust were to tight! grr so the head was off to the machine shop for guides and valve job...

You do really nice work, and don't seem to let ANYTHING slow you down, much less stop you.

I admire that!

Have you ever considered any sort of forced induction for this beast? It's a shortcut to high performance with slant 6's I think.

Tom Wolfe put a Buick turbo on a basically stock 225 in his Dart and went 12.95 in the quarter mile. It would take a lot of mods to run that quick, normally-aspirated, I think.

What are your thoughts on that???

This is awesome. Keep it comin when you do some more.

Wow!! cool story on this Dart moparKid I have another thread to keep an eye on.:thumrigh::thumrigh::glasses2:

ok so the motor is almost together! tryin to remember where i but the o-ring for the oil pump... if i even ordered one...lol

so just need to assemble the last bit of things and hope next weekend i can have it at least in the car again!

i ordered a new custom converter thru edge (9.5" 3400) as well! have had it for awhile now and it needs the bigger and stock flex plate bolts, can i get away with just a grade 8 bolt of do i need the mopar style "shallow" head TQ bolts?

thx

thanks for the story!! great work on the leaning tower--, not sure about your t.c. question. put out a want ad-- someone here might have some extra-- or point you in the right direction, Lawrence,

I think you should use the shallow head bolts ( I can't remember but standards may not clear the block ) anyway I found them at Checker ( now O'Riley's ) ARP line on the shelf.

ok well everything is together - the intake/exh... hopefully get it going to day and get a vid or two up...

oh and the new scoop
!
