Does anyone sell a thin (0.020") steel shim head gasket for a small block LA? I'm trying to get my quench distance below 0.050" so that I can take advantage of closed chamber 302 heads on my 273. I don't want to deck the block too much or get custom pistons if I don't have to.
Thanks,

Thanks,

I just received my special order .027 SB headgaskets from Cometic. Contact them and they can also custom size the bore, mine is .30 over 4".

Mr Gasket has some .027 also-not Comtic--believe those need a special surface finish on the deck and heads--some claim they still weep coolant for a little while.

Stay away from MP gaskets.

This guy has .020's for $48.00 a set. He claims it's a .020 compressed composite gasket. John W. @970-454-2636 he is an ebay seller and lists steel shim big block gaskets but says just buy the big blocks and tell him in the notes that you need the small block composite ones.
