What is the stock wheel offset for a 73 dart 7 1/4 with 14" wheels? I am looking into getting either 15" of 17" wheels for the dart and I can not find the stock wheel offset anywhere online.

I think that car came with 5.50" wheels. The backspacing on those are 3.75", which is equivalent to a positive offset of .50"

If you stick with wheels anywhere from 0 to .50" positive you'll be close enough.

The Dart came with 4½" wide wheels. The best you can get on these and get decent wear is 185/70-14. The Dart Sport 340 came with 5½" wide wheels. IIRC the backspace on these wheels is 4¼". The biggest tire recommended for a 14x5½ is a 215/70-14.

A 15x7 wheel with 4¼" offset works well up to about a 225/60-15 tire. I have this spec wheel on both the Dart (205/60-15) and the Demon (235/60-15). No problems at all with the Dart and tire clearance. I re-hung the fenders on the Demon twice before I got the front tires free of the fender opening when turning on bumpy streets. FWIW, I tried 255/60-15s on the car. On the front it was hopeless (BBP disk brakes) and they were within ¼" of the fender and spring on the rear.

Sorry. I haven't tried out a 17" wheel combination, yet. Too old school.

The 235 width is right where im looking for fitment on the wheels. Glad you said that cause i was contemplating going bigger but was unsure as to how much tire could fit with out tubbing the back out.

Well he did not say what particular Dart he had, so I measured my Dart 14" x 5.50" wheels minutes before I posted, and the back spacing is 3.75" as I stated above. Not an "IIRC" measurement. An actual measurement.

Yes 15x7, 4.25BS (=.25" positive offset), with 225/60-15 (26" tire) is a great combination on just about any Dart, and that is exactly what I'm running too.

Wheel diameter has no effect on tire width, wheel width, or backspacing. To maintain a 26" tire on a 17" wheel he would want to run 17x7, 4.25BS, and 225/50-17 tires.
