Not to change the subject but I been listening to the 500, at Daytona. It’s been an hour and a half of wrecks every lap now. 4 laps from finish and another crash. Like 4 cars left

I miss Danica
She’s part of what ruined nascar. Not because she was female, or the fact she sucked as a driver but because big money destroyed a sport that once related very well to the common man. Just like the NHRA

Some Goodyears, their new engine package (whatever that may be) some aero refinements and 200mph at Daytona. Right? The manufactures all make SUVs. Easy peasy.

Big money is what funds the sport and keeps it alive. Without it, it’s just a bunch of good ol’ Boys running around a dirt track for fun.

You wouldn’t even be able to watch it unless you went to the track and the gate money wouldn’t be enough to keep it alive.

It’s a business, and that what makes it what it is. Sponsors aren’t doing it for the fun of it.

That trickles down to the little tracks too. Sadly.

The little tracks are like the minor leagues for baseball. Everyone playing there is trying to get to the Big Leagues...where the real money is.

Just like major sports, it’s not a hobby...it’s a business.

Pretty much every night at the race track is $50 for this spectator. Chances are the % of that the operator gets to keep is mighty low after operating costs. Liability insurance probably eats half of an adult admission.
