To attach weights on bar, for weight lifting? That is why they are called bar bells.....? Or has that been guessed already?

I was stupid. My workmate was next to the door, i must have kicked it when door was open. It held door up,i went into office. Heard a wierd noise, it was too late. Opener unwound and twisted backwards. Until it stalled. Will spend rest of day fixing it. If i have a useable spring.
 
Found a replacement spring, was in my scrap pile. They were from 16 foot overhead doors, i used only 1 as its a 10 foot door. I dont recall how many wraps i did, will just do the math. Length of cable plus 1 will do it.
 
Tough stuff..was locked on shaft,so i cut it into pieces. Only thing that scares me is the weight of it. Its heavy. Think i will build an extension for my transmission jack.
