Stop in for a cup of coffee

Goooood morning!

More snow over night here. Now it's actually winter outside. I'm sure it's going to be all gone in a few days, though, but it is pretty.

A little concerned about the valve covers I ordered and paid for. No word since I paid ...

it's spring here......last few weeks have been consistent highs of upper 60s low 70s

and I have not had frost on the car for weeks now.

Everything is turning green and the trees all have little buds starting.

I love it .....bye bye winter

dang your coffee is ready and I have been up all night.

working on a K-frame for a friend......basically modifying a SB spool mount K to accept a big block, nothing too major.

Ran out of welding wire in the process, so luckily I had bought a super spool with a gift a card right after Christmas

I did so much trimming and got the motor mount to fit perfect.....so I thought

then I put the steering box on and the dang bolt to the steering box is right on the motor mount.

not sure if it's a good idea to shorten to bolt or use a different bolt all together that is already shorter

what kind of oil or grease do you guys use in a manual steering box??

this one is dry dry .....you can see the little gear thingy inside and there is no grease or oil in there.

I think that they either take gear lube or motor oil. Check the service manual....

yea, I didn't even think to check the service manual .....prolly after I get some sleep.

it's amazing how there are no two K-frames alike.

I have done this before and I seem to have different problems with each one. This is the first one where the bolt interferes .....last one I did, it was the gear box that didn't want to co -exist with the perch.

another one I did had a whole different set of issues ....They are all different !!!

Hmm, too late for you, too early for me... Is that a nut, or are the threads in the bracket? Can the bolt get in from the other direction? It doesnt look like it in the pic. They use those dog point bolts a lot, you would think it would fit. Cant tell how much you need to shorten, but it looks like you would either need need to cut the dog point off that or go to a shorter one with full thread.

Good high pressure bearing grease. I used some high temp/red Pennzoil Grease I had. Just packed it about 3/4 full.
