My old laptop crashed on me this past weekend. I deleted the hard drive and now I have a perfectly good computer sitting there, but I need some sort of operating system for it. I can get a factory start up disk for $40 but I was thinking of trying Linux. I just know nothing about it.
Im getting into video editing now that I have a GoPro. Not to mention I wouldnt mind also doing what Daddy does too.

It is a pecan flavored whiskey with a sweet honey mixed in, Mike 1 (toolmanmike) turned me on to it at Mopar in the park last year when I met him, it is great with coffee or just sipping like we did at the car show swap meet ! we enjoyed it a bunch !!
If we can get it for a few hundred and strip it and sell the parts it would help Stan out.
Nothing wrong with Linux, my mom uses it. Seriously. She doesn't do very much other than surfing and watching streamed (and stolen) movies, though. And her boyfriend set it up.
I think it could be a little more challenging if you want to get into something a little more advanced, though, but I don't have any personal experience.
If you can get your hands on an old Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 installation disk, you can upgrade 10 Windows 10 for free and that is actually a pretty good OS.
Mind you, if you start out with Windows 8, you need to FIRST upgrade to 8.1 (which is free) and THEN upgrade to 10. A PITA, especially since W8 is such. a. crappy. OS. :banghead:
So you think its ok to upgrade to 10 now. I have 8.1 and was told to wait until they got the bugs out of 10 ?

I upgraded a few months ago takes a bit to get used to but it seems ok for me.
Man I was e baying the parts from that car the hideaway headlight parts are expensive.
