If they are $800 new and last 10 years they should be worth $400 after 5 years. Your share of that is $200. I used to bid tool boxes that way. Welders have some value after 10 years but not much.
That depends on how hard they are used. Daily use, could be scrap in a few years. Home use might never wear out.
 
I am still in the market for a nice invertor welder. But the prices scare me away...

Yes it does. Always something to take into consideration when buying a used one. How was it used and how was it cared for.

Chris, they can have the welder if you get paid for the repairs. If they wont cough up, pull out the parts and give the welder back.
Then buy yourself a decent welder and call it a wash.
 
I got $400 for a lincoln 180 on a cart. Wasnt used much until i got it,maybe 30 lbs of wire went through it.
