Stop in for a cup of coffee

1406 Edelbrock carb. Starts immediately after sitting overnight, no pumps required. Idle goes to about 3K Rs and stays there. Exterior linkages appear to be good. Throttle does respond above elevated idle. Any ideas?

Back from body shop, guy showed me my likely "overhead storage" above the bay my Duster will be in when it comes out of storage. He asked if I had chosen a color, said he worked at a place in Texas that did "million dollar restorations" and how surprised he was when a guy doing that had no idea what color he wanted the car. Said he would suggest "areola pink", his boss didn't like him doing that lol!
Moulin Rouge with white interior isn't on the short list?

Good to hear that Chris.
Thanks
Took a decade to make a path in the woods?:poke:
Congratulations on the new place.

Fast idle circuit? I don't remember if thermal switch or linkage. My son's you have to rev it tit drop idle back down

Nope but it's for someone just not me : ) My wife wants B5 Blue or Sublime Green but can't tell me which order. I beleive the current color is closer to Torrid Red than Hemi Orange. I'm leaning towards those two, car had blue under trunk floor pan area, will have to see if I can find original on what I could recover from build sheet (I laminated what was left)

Thermal choke. I give pedal one pump, crank and it fires. 15 seconds i tap throttle and its at idle. Same 1406 carb. 360 engine

66 mustang running rich. I get there, pull air cleaner and choke is closed. Upon further investigation, electric choke isnt connected. After some history, insurance job caused engine to be removed, mechanic must have been a real piece of ****, cut wires that were 1” from connectors. Anyhoo, checked timing, adjusted carb and all is good in the universe.

Almost.

Corvette shows up. Runnin like its struggling. 1406 carb. Owner connected dist to ported vacuum, and tried to time it by ear. Well a twist here and a twist there and then all was good in the universe..

Two in a row that actually were not some oddball problem. Im happy with my day

What little do they know, i got lucky

Can you take some GOOD closeup pictures around the baseplate on each side where the throttle shafts and the linkage is? Especially the accelerator pump rod? Try to get the choke side closeup too.

Going to be another 100 degree day, after a 76 dew point I believe it will feel like 111.
Everyone of you stay sharp and smart today, weather like this takes youngguns out, shade only or best A/C only today.
Good morning Hoppy
