Stop in for a cup of coffee

Thanks for the feedback, I really don't know if it's overkill, maybe it's not. With the car going on the rotisserie and him knowing of a clean kit it does make sense to do it then. A good driving/handling car is a goal so think I'll re-discuss that one

Well if you look at where the rear quarter panel is cracked where it connects to the roof. Almost all of the old cars have that. That is a direct result of body twist and even 6 cyl. cars have it. So my thoughts are if I put the time into a nice paint job put connectors on. AND there are 2 versions. Again my thoughts are get the ones that connect to the floor. Those that are just a piece of square tubing helps but is not as good.
I've emailed the resto shop and requested what type and asked that they do this work, thx again and @toolmanmike

Everyone that does frame ties comments on how much more solid the car is and how much better it drives and rides. I would do the torque boxes as well if your car doesn't have them. That ties the rockers in with the subframes.

I really like the US Car Tool ones. They arer an integral part of the floor pan. They look factory.

These are the ones that follow the contour of the floor and the good ones. If you search frame connectors on here you will see several posts.
Yes, the US Car Tool ones are contoured to the floor. I have seen rectangular tubing ones that are just welded in on both ends. They would be better than nothing for sure. Some cut the floor and partially weld them in. Those would be strong but I'm not a fan of that type of installation.

I would think that a manual shift would be a consideration as well. I am not the guy in the know. I just gave my opinion. I would like to hear from ther guys...Fred?

Talking with body guy yesterday he was asking if I wanted subframe connectors put on, am I building a 408 etc. after I told him I'm doing a mild to med HP 340 for street. Seems guys do that, had a home builder do that when we were talking about the shop, mother in law apt, finished upstairs etc. etc. Body guy does have a good eye so will take on some of his ideas I think
always add the subrame. I didnt think I needed them on my 74 Charger since it was a bone stock 318. but it made world of difference in just the ride. i changed nothing else but welded in some US tool subframes. seemed to ride much smoother and handle the rough hilly roads I live in better. course when the 451 went in... that really became a help lol

Yep. If I can just get the frame and roof on, theoretically, I am capable of finishing literally the rest of the house. Including the siding if I must.
The windows screwed our timeline up on our build, wanted black trim got white then were "backordered" even though custom plus we had a bad "field general" that wasn't good at staying on top of things like that and was full of shi^t

Here's a nice picture of the rear torque boxes and subframe ties. No reason they didn't do the front torque boxes. Lot's of twist up in front too.

my opinion on frame connecters is it's a good idea and I should have done mine. :BangHead: :BangHead:
I plan on doing them soon and will get the ones that connect to the floor pan.
BTW I now make the little cover for a manual 4 speed with center console.

Similar situation. Knowing they were 5-7 weeks out, I ordered the Windows August 16th, Black trim, non gridded, security film. Invoice correctly reflects that, order showed up the morning we left for vacation, white windows, gridded and no security film. Company sent the wrong ones. So they're refunding me 10% and put me at the top of the line, but that's still 2-3 weeks. Best case right now is Nov 7-14. they're making it as right as they can. Its a supply chain issue with glass right now. All window manufacturers are about the same timeline. even the box stores don't have very many windows in stock and none that are the right size.

ANd why can't you? I did
I'm no longer running a factory floor or torsion bar crossmember, so they wont fit.

I custom lowered my floor 3/4 of an inch, built a custom crossmember since mine was rusty and the T56 Mag wouldnt clear it. I'll see if I can find the pics.

What is wrong with this world anymore? You mean the order comes through as Black and they say WTH send him white! This is why I don't buy from Rock auto any more. I think they get it right 1 time out of 5. The bass tards.

When your builder tells you the Russians hacked the internet and that's why you don't have your windows it's time to worry, ask me how I know lol! Good luck and hang in for a roller coaster ride you will want to forget but can't

You did all of that and you can't make a set of frame connectors?

yep. that's what happened to me on my 78's brake shoes, ordered the 11 inch, they send the 10s, then wanted me to pay to ship them back. Nope.

Rock Auto? I ordered a timing belt for my Neon. They sent me the rubber shield that goes on top of the radiator to the front frame.

oh, no I have just the bolt in connectors for now. just bolted in, I just havent had the chance to make a set of floor hugging ones yet. Probably wont till I get the new shop built. Hard to get the car sat square on an uneven concrete floor its currently sitting on. Plus no lift access at the moment.
