Stop in for a cup of coffee

One good thing about working on aircraft you are essential that way. Even the guardsmen I believe.
Yes and no. They shut down some units during this, including aviation, others are still drilling and supposedly getting paid. They seem to have had a plan where they kept at least one unit of each branch/type still drilling . Now how much longer that will last is beyond me.

Surprised. I guess SPECOP is treated differently, Rescue definitely is.

Ever go on state orders? That was always a PIA to get paid from.
Trying to remember all of them.

Katrina in 05
Reported for a couple hurricane missions that we never actually deployed to assist. But none since 2016.
Did a 3 day one for a blizzard in 2013/2014.
Then the Covid riots where we literally just hung out for 3 weeks doing absolutely nothing.

So yeah, I’ve not done squat in my career. At least of note. One of the reasons I do not want any official retirement ceremony. There’s nothing in my career to celebrate

At least your retirement certificate wont be auto penned by Obama!

No hard feelings! Believe me, I told him he's asking for it, bringing it to Mopar events. The young guys all love it, even at the mopar shows but he's taken some pretty hard heat from some of the older ones. I helped him and showed him the ways on his first Dart. got him into welding and now he's a professional TIG welder in a high-end company, not car-related though. When he got the second car and wanted to build it, I told him he was gonna have to do everything himself this time, and pay for it all. He was 16 when he bought it and tore into it. New floors, torsion cross member, truck floor and he put the AMD drivers quarter panel on it without using any body filler except on the rocker seam. He did a **** ton of work all on his own. It's not my cup of tea but he loves it and he also seams to enjoy ruffling feathers of the purists. I don't encourage any of that. LOL he just turned 21 and bought his own place on 11 acres with a nice shop. He's learned a lot. The car has a 6.5 second certified cage in it. His long term plans is a big block chevy motor and to make it as fast as he can and streetable as well as drag racing. He wants to do drag week. It's already got a trailer hitch. He's got plenty of trouble to get into and I'm sure he will. LOL
Not that it matters, but he's my stepson. His own dad left him high & dry when he was 12 or 13 so I've done my best to step in and give him some self-confidence. We butt heads plenty but he's growing up. He just wants to go fast on his own terms. He knows he's gonna get **** for his car from the older guys. I give it to him too. It's all good. At least he's not a druggie, alcoholic or furbaby who needs to piss in a litter box! And I'm glad to have some of my shop space back!

ps... always try to remember, it's a small world!
Thank you for being so gracious, Doug.

And I just saw the pictures on the build that Jake did....Nice! You should be proud.

Does it eat a hole in the bottom of your cup?

Dark as the night...

Never been one to throw a party but I’m debating throwing a retirement party once my date is official.
