I don't know if it's all modern computer controlled today but in the beginning they said it took 24 hours to change all the clocks in Grand Central Station. So for a day turning a corner could look like changing time zones.

Hard to believe so many fell for that crap! Some people we knew sold everything and bought a place in the country then went full hoard mode for food and ammo. Last time I heard from them is that they ended up in divorce.
I went through a ton of Red Cross traing for that in the NY guard. Was even on state orders for NYE and the next few days. Total clusterfuck sitting around the unit waiting for the call and weapons and ammo actually issued. Of course we had one dude that received divorce paper the day before and Was suicidal. We actually disarmed him and basically had him restrained by the base cops. He would have been a great shelter manager right? Totally sucked.
