Key events in history on this day and time:
The Boston Tea Party- Sons of Liberty cohorts sneak aboard and dump tons of British tea into Boston Harbor as a protest against a 3 percent tax levied by the crown.
The Battle of the Bulge as it would become known begins. The 5th SS Panzer and 6th SS panzer divisions along with elements of the 7th, quickly and suddenly attacked and defeated the tired and exhausted 99th Infantry and elements of the 2nd infantry division near Bastogne, Belgium. The 101st Airborne division along with parts of the 82nd Airborne would be thrust into battle, with no winter clothes, barely any food and medical supplies and even less ammunition. All during one of the coldest and snowiest winters the region had seen in decades. Completely surrounded by nearly 10 German tank and infantry divisions, the Airborne would hold out in these extreme conditions until the Third Army under General George S Patton would arrive to reinforce the airborne and push the Germans all the way back into Germany.
