btw, any of you guys use those engine lift plates that bolt to the intake? they scare the **** out of me, i use a 4 chain "Leveler" type lifting device.. but i can see how the lifting plates would be soo easy
I use both. Depending on the situation. Lifting plate on a 454 was no big deal.

yeah, did some reading.. i think an aluminum headed small block will be fine :) ordering stuff now... hoping 1.25" bolts are long enough... not sure how deep the carb holes are in a performer.. should be fine

I read somewhere that it can be done. I guess with a lifting plate and short chain on picker it would go. My buddy cuts out the top of the rad support, them makes brackets to bolt it back in. Did it on the mustang, that little extra really helps.

yeah, i have worked on cars with the core support cut before.. it makes life soooo easy... i just can't do it :)

It's ThirtyNine Thursday!

Good morning :D

I love torsion bars, use a ratchet strap across them and hold the trans and exhaust up :) I use a strap to lift the trans high enough to get the jack under when putting a trans in.. works great

first time I took an engine out was out the bottom of the car. A 66 Lemans with a 389. took the top end off so it was a short block pushed off the mounts onto a creeper. used the cheap jack stands that were probably $5 each with the pins to lock them. engine came out okay....just forgot to drain the oil and pull out the drain plugs in the block. oil stain on the blacktop was there twenty years later when we sold the house.

Morning everyone. need to go to the county clerk's office for some plates and turn in my ballot. Then to the IGA for some irrigation parts.

Time for me to get busy as well. To the landfill and another Wally World run.
Done! I stopped by Lowes parking lot. There was a truck there selling rib eye steaks. I bought some, and threw them on the grill when I got home. . They are very thin but tasty. Great for sandwiches.

Dang, 3rd post on page 2. We are slipping.

Time for a nap. I always get groggy around 2 in the afternoon.

What's the protocol for a "wanted" but it's for someone else? I don't want to be in the middle of the transaction.
