Stop in for a cup of coffee

that would be interesting to measure them, because I always had the impression the later ones were slightly downsized from the early ones.

I had a 70 fury before and this car is a lot different but it would be interesting to have them side by side.

Oddly enough, you are right on the visibility factor. For some reason I feel like I can see over the 66 Polara dash better than I used to in my old 70 fury. That was one main reason I traded the 70 fury for my green 69 dart.

Parts also seem easier on these 60s cars over the later ones.....the 70 fury needed some pieces that were nearly impossible to find at the time.
I think the '66 Polara had the 6-way mechanically adjustable seats that the Dealer would adjust to 'fit' you. I wonder if the car you bought has one of those seats and it was adjusted to a position that's better for you? I know a lot of those cars were adjusted for women who bought them back then as their daily driver. It was a big selling point for Chrysler corp. cars to have those seats to get the women buyers (or get husbands to buy them for their wives).

Hmmm I'll be very interested in what Rani finds regarding this. My '64 Fury definitely had that feature.

Rani, I saw you posted on FCBO. It sure is a different place there than here. There's a handful of guys there who seem to be a judges panel, and they are quick to type snide comments. Some guys are cool of course but FABO members are a lot more helpful.

I know what you mean because I was on there years ago when I had my 70 fury (like 5+ years ago)

I am laying low over there and just building up a post count and familiarity enough to buy parts. LOL

I've bought parts from Billy Fury over there, he's a great stand-up guy, if you ever see a part he has that you need. C-body Bob too.

Surprisingly, they are nearly identical in size...with the '70 Fury being just slightly larger on the exterior.

'66 Polara/'70 fury
Seat height front 8.9"/8.7"
Head room front 37.9"/38.0"
Leg room front 42.0"/41.7"
Hip room front 63.3"/63.4"
Total length 213.3"/214.9"
Wheelbase 121.0"/120.0"
Height 54.1"/54.5"
Total width 80.0"/79.6"

Hey rani, if you want to use that image as an avatar...use this one instead so it won't get cropped.

I think the beltline on the later models is higher, the top of the fenders is higher. Then again maybe I'm wrong seeing how close the other measurements are.

I was surpised to find out that early A cars are a couple inches longer than the later ones.

Its been awhile since I looked but I am pretty sure a 65 dart is a few inches longer than a 68/9 box dart.....yet at first glance, the 68/9 box dart look looks bigger than the early A's

maybe its just a psychedelic freaky thing from the 60's

I'm happy I'm not the only C-body coffee customer anymore.

Time to go watch an old movie. Last night I watched Mystery Of The Wax Museum, 1933, which was better than the remake House Of Wax with Vincent Price. Very surprising how good the quality of it was, for the year. I wish I could find every good old movie and see them all.

It's all just visual perception based on proportions. I use it in my art work regularly and auto manufacturers still use it to their advantage even today to make bigger cars look smaller and smaller cars look bigger.

You'd be surprised how small the interior of this '56 Caddy really is compared to how it looks...(one of my old upholstery jobs)

Here's a full exterior pic (not the actual car I did the work on)

dang, my friend called up crying ....saying that her BF/baby daddy got drunk and slapped and pushed her down and left her. She is crying because the cops are after him and on and on.

I didn't really have anything to say in response ...all I can do is listen because I don't know anything about that kind of thing.

Then I got off the phone, full pez dispenser in one hand, a juice box in my other hand. My model railroad going around in circles and a polara to drool at.....

Being Single freaking ROCKS!!!!!! ....if I ever want to get involved in grown up stuff ....you guys need to stop me because that would be just downright crazy.

You are already involved in grown up stuff with us here...we just have a very different definition of what being 'grown-up' means! :D

worst part about that, is that in some jurisdictions once that phone call is made on a "domestic" the individual cannot drop the charges even if they want to.
