A just black hood looks to me like someone was too lazy to paint it. Car graphics need to work with the entire car, not just the body part.

I agree, and the bold color doesn't make it any easier. I think keeping the body one color and just using accents around the edges will be what works best.

Might be right.

I think once all the body chrome is back on, there won't be a need to do much more. Maybe a tail stripe or some black in the rocker chrome, but I think that's probably all it can handle for contrast.

Nope. It's not gonna look any better. It's just too much contrast over too much real estate on the car.

With the twin scoop, I could do a wide stripe on each side like the Duster. But with a center scoop, it just doesn't work. Making the scoop contrast makes it look like a big nose sitting in the middle of the hood.

The black on the hood only works like this...

I ran into the same thing. I ended up with no scoop. Black hood. And black fore to aft stripe, on the lime part, not the hood. Never got to it tho....

Yeah, I still tend to gravitate back to that image. With a black tail stripe, I think it could look really good...
