Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
It's gonna be a cold one tonight. Single digits, and wind chills -20° to -30°F...

Our nipples are gonna be bigger than Pinocchio's nose....
you can say that again, below zero here with wind chill :banghead: it's going to get

bad again the first of the week too. #-o

Morning. Coold here again. 6 now and -teens wind chill. I think I have to clean out the coal stove today, It is just not putting out the heat. Figures the coldest day all year and.....

Morning all. 15 deg here today. Gonna work on the electric motor for the rolling doors in the shop today.

Mornin',
We have a wood stove in the basement. Heats the whole house if we keep at it. I do have a heat pump and oil also for when I don't feel like dragging wood in. Anyway, I cleaned it out my a couple weeks back cause it wasn't burning right. It's catalytic element was clogged and partly collapsed because the inner top section warped and crushed it. I put it back together with fireplace cement. Working great, but will need to get some new parts and rebuild it to make it right before I can fit a new catalyst in it. ... $$$.

I have a coal stoker I use to heat the whole house in the living room and a tri fuel wood/coal/oil in the basement that runs the baseboard that I have not even used this year. Pain in the but because the only way to the basement is outside. Might have to fire it up today though if the door is not frozen shut.

I have Bilco doors into the back of the basement, then a few steps down to an old metal door. I fill the hatch with wood from outside, then close the outside and hand truck it across to the other side where the stove is. A bit of work, but saves on the oil bill when its to cold for the heat pump.

I have the Bilco also, It is just in a bad spot where the snow drifts. I hardly go down there unless something needs attention.

Morning all. Nice balmy 3.2°F right now.

I have to get the garbage can out for the trash guy....

2 cups so far, but I have a meeting at 8:30 this morning.
Retirement doesn't seem to stop the people from having questionsl

I'm meeting with the people I sold my business to, and a new prospective client.

He contacted the company and asked for me. The client and I are pretty old acquaintances from when I was at IBM. We'd had a few laughs since then.
When the new owners told them that I'd sold the business and retired, he explained our prior business dealings, and now he's with a new company that builds commercial buildings, and is looking for a door supplier. He asked for my contact information, and called me about a week ago. We arranged to meet over breakfast, this morning.

He and I will be meeting for breakfast and just some chat, and the new owners of my old door company will be joining us around 10:00AM. I'm really looking forward to it, too. It's good to see old friends, and, I have to admit, it will also be good to be involved in a business negotiation, again.

Cool Frankie, Once you have all that knowledge and contacts, people will truly never leave you alone. Kinda nice to know that no one forgot about you, if you catch my drift.

Did you get this dun yet !! Dang #-o it's friggen 11 degrees here this morning krazyK :pale:
I don't even think I could walk down my drive way right now, I would be on my back and sliding for 100 feet if I did :D

Morning! Cold where you are too I see. -8 here with a high of 7 forecasted. It's hard to keep the tool truck warm in this weather. Those diesels don't build heat at idle. You have to work them. I'll get through it. This is my 26th winter. I dress warm. I hope everyone's heaters and furnaces are working good today. I have a 100 year old house with hot water heat. I had a new Weil - McLain boiler put in a few years back that has been working great. It is real efficient and cut my utility bill by $100 a month. Time to get rolling. Have a good day all and stay warm. tmm
