Stop in for a cup of coffee

I have to run Danny and monkey boy actually showed up to help out in the field today. Have fun all!

Good morning .......it might actually rain here. Woke up to very cloudy skies....its beautiful. I love the rain and its not very common here.

That has to be one of very few things I miss about India. ...... the rain is so beautiful. ... it's better than a dream
Cloudy here this morning and feels like a good fishing day, we have rain moving in Tuesday , we get more then our far share of rain here in the natural state :D love it here in Arkansas........................ some may think we are a bunch of hillbillies but if that keeps the nuts out I am fine with that :D

I need to get out and 'relax ' on the lawn mower or I'm going to need a baler.

Haha same here .....I finally got a new battery for the lawn tractor but I have been so busy that i have not installed it yet. Sure going to be nice to have a turn key mower again without having to hook up the jump start every time

We enjoyed a sunny day yesterday, today is cloudy, calm and bumping 60 degree's, perfect for a day at the race track around a grill and cooler :glasses7: Today is the first day George Rays drag strip is open (Been to many rainy days) this spring :blob:

Relax?

I have to push mine... :banghead:

I got both of my "*****" (used) mowers ready to go, and a brand new Troy Bilt in the box waiting for his turn...

My yard is rough on mowers, lots of obstacles... Trees, branches, rocks, creek... There is no way to "gently" mow my lawn if you want it to turn out right. You have to get in there up close with the mower so I don't have to weed wack all the time. I can do it every few weeks..

So knowing that there are many obstacles, I prefer to use the older mowers and put the wear and tear on them. Both of them needed new blades as they were bent from last year... :banghead:

But I love the Troy Bilt, as it cuts the best. Nice and even, it makes the grass look almost like carpet... So I'm trying to save it (for marriage - LOL!)..

I'm waiting for the grass to get taller so I can cut it...

Morning, Rainy, the rain is coming. Started raining at my place about 1am and was realy coming down. I live down a dirt road that had some floodind. Coffees good though,

I drove the kid's Shelby Mustang to class a week and a half ago. On the way home, I was gunning it on the straight aways, and the tires were breaking loose on me, just pushing the gas pedal down after getting it moving. That thing can break the tires loose with just giving it more pedal.... :burnout:

My son and I were talking about it the other day, and he says that the tires on the car don't get good grip below 60° F. They get stickier as it warms up.... :burnout:

We've only been over 70° F once or twice this spring.... :glasses7:

You have a beautiful place Karl, seen it many times and know what you are saying,
about the same here, rocks and tree's to mow around here also, the tree's aid in shade witch keeps the grass from growing so fast, yep! You have a cool place here on earth bud :glasses7:

How many boys you got? All them mowers buzzing around and that grass shouldn't have a chance.... LOL

Sounds like a fun ride :color: yep :glasses7: cool weather will test the track on grip today for sure, I did a bunch of yard work yesterday so I may take the time to enjoy a day at the track if the mood hits me about 11:00 oclock

Thanks, It's been in the family since the early 60's. My grandparents lived next door and built this house for their retirement. It's a ranch with 3000 square feet, 1/2 basement, 4' concrete floors throughout, 34" solid oak doors in every room, 3 firewalls in each wall, 5/8" thick paneling, and right next to a forest preserve. My grandpa believed in quality and the architect was paid on commission, so he put the good stuff in (as it helped his paycheck also). We have .9 acres and when we moved in after grandma died, dad had a 32 x 40 garage built in the back for the cars. With the concrete floors and cinder block basement walls, there are a couple of rooms in my basement where you could be safe from a tornado as you are surrounded by cinder block walls and cement ceiling. :rambo:

The older I get, the more I appreciate the beauty of being near the forest. It's like living in the boonies, but I'm only 10-15 minutes to 3 malls and most any store that I need. The benefits of living in the sticks, with the convenience of the city being close by...

Two boys, 23 & 17.

But I do all of the house maintenance. I fired the lawn service last year as I wasn't happy with the way that they did it, and they were too expensive.

I actually think that I am doing better than they did...

Plus it's good exercise. I'm down 60 lbs since Jan 2014 and the yard work helps keep me moving and exercising. I want to loose another 60 to get to my target weight.

I paid the lawn service to clean the gutters also. Last year when i did the back garage gutters, there was a huge root system growing in there.... So tell me how they were cleaning my gutters for the last two years...

When I questioned the boss about if they were ACTUALLY cleaning my gutters, he insisted that they were...

I also don't want the leaves dumped in the creek, as it keeps the water from backing up and my basement from flooding. I'm the lowest lot on my street (that's why I have the creek in my yard) and all of the rain drains to my creek and then down the hill to another larger creek in the forest preserve, then flows into the Cal-Sag River.

When I moved in here back in '08, the phone guy could tell that the basement has never flooded just by walking down the steps. He said that he can smell when the basements have flooded in the past, ours doesn't have that musty smell...

So I try to make sure that I don't get any flooding while I'm here. I have other places where we can put the leaves, we don't need to crowd the creek and block the drainage. Not to mention that there are city ordinances against it.

But every year, I would catch the lawn crew dumping the leaves by the creek... I would have to hide and take pictures to prove it to the boss... Then he would yell at the supervisor... I'm sick of babysitting them after four years of this, they should know better. I've called the police on the neighbor's crew dumping them in my creek, I can't let my lawn crew do it. I've even threatened the lawn crew boss to call the police on them... How bad is it when you have to call the police on your own lawn crew to make them follow the rules??? :banghead:

For what they charge, I could buy a new mower every month and save money from having them do it....

It's like working on your car.. nobody will do it as well as you will do it. It's a pride thing, and people working for a paycheck these days don't have much of that.
