Stop in for a cup of coffee

Thge kid and I were working on rewiring his 71 Valiant... It doesn't look like much yet, but we're getting there.

I'm rewiring the main engine wires for the alternator, coil, ballast, and voltage regulator. Our connector and wires for the original regulator look beat up, so I got a new connector with a pigtails to replace it. When we're done, all the wires to keep the engine will be all new along with a new dash wiring harness...

Hopefully there will be no bugs in the electrical system when we are done, we're going by the service manual to make sure that it's right...

That wiring looks a lot like mine! :D

It will clean up nice when we're done... I'll post some pictures of it... We still have the original center bulkhead harness in there, which is part melted and cracked off, so we have a good one that we're putting in. Ramie (SLS) sent me some pig tails with the proper flat connectors to use in the new connector so all that wiring will be completely new and soldered in for better reliability...

All the wires needed to run the engine will be completely new, so we shouldn't have any electrical problems...

It just takes time to go each wire one at a time until we get them all done. Then I will wrap them in electrical tape to make it look like the factory wiring...

We used to have a dixie horn on the car, but it burned out. We bought another one and he wants it on when we get it running. I will make those wires separate from the main ones so it can be removed later if we wish...

We will finish dressing the engine when we are done, but I didn't want to have the carb and other things in the way to make it easier to get around...

I see some new faces this morning :glasses7: Good morning everyone, cheers :coffee2:

I like where you are going with this

buckets or bench

I am on the bubble as to whether I like a bench or buckets better

so far I think I like a bench better. I have converted cars from bench to buckets and found the buckets to be a tad bit over rated ....except on 68 and 9 ...I do like the low back buckets.

Bench on this dream. It's made to be driven and comfy.

is that an earlier engine in the 71 valiant??

Seems like a 60s SB with that color and the oil cap looks older because I think a 71 would have a twisty cap

Hey there Mitch. Did you do any GTS teardown yesterday? I'm really curious what your oiling issue is..

Probably start on it today. I cleaned up the console I took out, to fix the shift mechanism. Cleaned up pretty good. Now just waiting for a DMT overlay for the surface.

Good morning. Loved yesterday. I gots to build a sewing table for the wife today (and tomorrow since I'm sure I'll opt for a few beverages along the way)..

I have to find a new lid for your air cleaner.

It's dented and not nice. After stripping it, I think its a no go

I should find one soon because they are all same on any 4bbl. air cleaner 70- into the 80s
