Stop in for a cup of coffee

of course I still haven't seen OMR or M1 yet either... youz

And you won't from me out of protest for the constant pushing for Rani to post one.
It was never something that was required.
I've posted this several times but it keeps getting ignored.

Oh great, my 11 year-old daughter just spiked a 102° fever and started decorating the walls and carpets in barf on the way to the bathroom.

I'm out...

Keep a close eye on her. Anything over 101° should see a doctor or hospital...

I read elsewhere on the forum that RRR recommended Rhoades lifters a while back. I checked them out and they seem truly ingenious. I've seen your recommendation before, too.

I think I have the same cam as ScampMike has. It's a PurpleShaft. I have an LD4B and a 750 Carter AFB. I bought an old Holley 600 from BadSport in july. I've refurbished it and was planning on trying them both out to see which works best.

If I'm not planning on running the engine over 4,500 rpm much, I guess porting and bigger valves would be a wast of time, no?

The whole cam duration, LSA and ICL voo-doo, do I need to go there or should I just cc up my head and piston combo, post the data in my build thread and take the advice I get?

CC it up and post your info. We can help you get where you want to go.

What size purpleshaft cam? lift? Duration?

The LD4B is a great intake. don't let it go, use it...

Porting will help. My head guy likes to do what he calls the "quick port" which is 90 - 90 % of the gain, polishing is the last bit, and not necessary on a street engine. Porting will help, but try to open up the restrictions, and just match the area to the gasket for the ports, and open the bowls up. You can run up to 2.02" intakes. if you have 1.88" intakes with fresh valve job, don't sweat it, you can always open them up on the next valve job and get a nice seat with a fresh cut...

Finally! Dammed car is a thorn in my side.

It's coming along great!!! :D

Ok, did some work on Eddie's engine today..

His compression is 8.11

His cam is very small - we're going to change it. Here's what we measure:

Lift at valve: .391" / .386"
Dur @ .050": 213.5° / 211°
Lobe Centerline: 111.5° / 107.75° so I will round it to 112° / 108°
Lobe Separation: 110°

Karl was probably late.

Good morning! Just cleared out all the kids. Now I'm going for a run. Will catch up in the thread later ...

It's going to be a while before I cc it, I'm afraid, but I'll post it. Probably in my build thread, though.

I've got the cam data in my thread, will look it up later.

I'm reluctant to port on my own. I'm afraid I'll get bored and only do half of the ports or open up a nice little hole into a bolt hole or water channel ...

Morning from here. Woke up early again and waiting for the stores to open my coal stove chimney pipe broke in the wind I guess. Need to change the top section. Fun day ahead of me.

Heading to the cleveland auto show here! Easy day for once!

First in or just late?

Yep, Anders called it. I was checking in before going to bed....

I'm up again... :banghead:

I need to get back to sleep because Eddie is coming over around 10 AM. We're going to take the oil pan off his engine and check the torque on the rods and mains.

We found his compression last night and degreed the cam to find out what it was... It seems like it's smaller than a stock 360 cam (2 bbl). He said he thought the engine was supposed to be rebuild to stock specs, but it seems small for a 340 cam, in fact it measured smaller than a 360 2 bbl cam - I have degreed three 360 cams in my 28 cam mapping...

So we're going to upgrade the cam.

Finally found a cool enclosure for the gauge tester that should fit everything in it. looks like a meter.
