It won't be low risk, if you have to pull and disassemble engine because of wiped cam or metal particles !!
That's why if I get it, it'll be fully examined and spec'd out. By a qualified engine builder
 
Even a new out of the box Cam can go bad. So why not take a small gamble. Of course look at it good. You should be able to tell is a lobe is wiped out, or getting ready to go.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. And if it is bad, oh well, back up plan is a custom ground roller cam from Oregon cam grinders
