nice, I'll probably end up working T/W/T/F and part of Sat

I was going through some old email and found this - done by Dave 12/10/2015

Ugh anyone wanna come babysit two screaming toddlers

Chris a diode just lets amperage and voltage flow one way, will only charge as much as the regulator will let it then switch it for use. Another way is with a sensing relay they use in RV's, a lot more expensive.
So you let charge flow one way to battery. No juice out till switched?

Ah ok, so the regulator and diode with a manual switch? Sounds simple enough

Basically just a diode and a switch your existing reg will do both of them. The fuse type are kind of nice since they do fail and you just plug a new one in or a fuse to get you home.

The switch will be the main cable the diode does not need a switch. I added a fuse block in my trunk for the fuel pump and the vac pump so I can still use the amp meter. No power for those goes through the gauge.

I was just thinking you prob do not need to big of a diode say 5 amp or so because when it is switched on the main cables will be the route the amperage will go, basically a maintainer circuit.

Sweet, it'll be quite some time, just brain storming

Just use a Big Capacitor and a diode. Works well. Put the diode between the Cap. and the charging source. Bigger the Cap. the longer it will keep a circuit "hot".

thank you! not really even raining yet - it's just a matter of wait and see now... how are your renovations coming?
Slow, been raining for 5 days pretty steady. Just got back into the house after the Tenting for termites, still getting crap back in. Food, Clothing, ........
