I'll probably make that trip later this spring. This guy here is closer.Let the guy that I recommended in Michigan take a look at the block, he'll tell you if it's ok or not.. He worked in the factory that MADE THEM when they were being made, and he's a good machinist... If he doesn't have the right machine for the job in his garage, he's got connections to get access to one to get it done...
Anyway. Good news is he feels the block is useable. He gave me all his measurements, including with and without a bore plate torqued down. The bores he said are within Chrysler specs on both, he did note the tooling scratches and ran a ball hone in it and got them out, so lucky there. He went ahead and removed the misaligned came bearings and measured their bores and it was a good thing he did, the middle own came out cracked, but he said he felt the cam bearing bores were fine for another set. He also measured the deck height with dual caliber and did all the math and confirmed it has never been decked. It also magnafluxed it and sonic checked it, passed both of those. He also checked my rotating assembly and it's good to go.
So other than the other shop not doing what they were paid to do, it sounds like the block is salvageable. So After all that drama and another 150 bucks, I think I'm gonna use it
