there should be a L & R on any torsion bar - OEM or aftermarket - I swear there was on the ones I put in the Scamp last year. Of course I had had them around for years and have no idea where I got them either. There is debate as to whether or not there is a back or a front - Torsion Bar Install

I'm pretty sure the torsion bar itself doesn't know which end is pointing in the direction of movement. It will still be twisted in the same direction.

Now, it the ends are manufactured differently, that could make a difference.

All good info but I reused my original bars. If you take one out and turn it backwards it will twist backwards.

I understood that for factory bars direction doesn't matter (at least most anyway). Apparently some aftermarkets are clocked in a way that it does matter.

Not to many hours but last year I was beating on it taking down small saplings and Bamboo, prob did it the center spindle has a bunch of cracks surprised it di not fly apart.

It was, one Bourbon and water then two BL and a number made for a relazing day

Yep !! That Bamboo had to be hard on any mower deck .
