If it is the base image, you need to either convert it to a layer or create a duplicate layer and change the color on that. I usually create a duplicate.

The biggest tip I can give you is to keep playing with everything. There are 1000 ways to get the same end result in PS and everyone has their own way of doing things.
I'll be happy once I figure out how to make the layers actually fit in the car not on top and look like they don't belong.

Remember that you can change the transparency of the layer from 0 to 100% to let the one underneath show through as much or little as you like.

You can also selectively erase parts of the top layer from 0-100% so that different parts of the layer underneath show through to varying degrees. For example, you can erase all the windows and body chrome in the top layer and keep the rest tinted while removing 50% of the opacity on the tires.
I just print the photo and use crayons, but its hard to stay inside the lines.

how you feeling? I S & S'ed and had dinner.. I can feel myself fading.. no hangover though, took some Advil before I crashed last night ( I was feeling the beginnings of a headache at about 11:30) - and I was good to go this morning.. I need to do coffee, Doritos, bologna and chocolate cake for breakfast more often..
