Big Block Better Burnout
I love old bikes! I had a 1976 Honda CR125M Elsinore with a Webco head and aftermarket expansion chamber. I used to motocross a LONG time ago. Silver and red. It NEVER broke and was still awesome when I sold it.

Hey is it FARTday Friday today? No way we could get into trouble with this one right?

As a retired Phone/internet/network installer, I could tell you stories about "just drilled a little hole in...."Thought I did a major oops yesterday... Gonna move the 'office' area from the basement , up to what was my son's room. So, that means moving the computer. It is a few years old and still wired. I could just run the wire up from the DSL modem, but decided to get the modem on a direct run from the service box with cat5. First thing was to get access for that by drilling through the brick face near the wires. This of course comes in above the only area of the basement with a finished drywall ceiling. Cut a hole in that, but there is a second floor joist very close and of course they did not line up the holes and I had to get through the whole thing. I was near certain there was nothing else in the space, so used a long drilland tried to go straight through. Came out with copper wire that looked like 12-14ga wrapped around the drill. That was an "Oh Fk!' moment. Ran in and killed the power and ripped out a bigger chunk of drywall,...till I figured out it was an abandoned ground wire.... Crisis averted.

I know everything you need to know about DSL.Anybody know much about wiring for DSL? We have very slow internet. Trying to squeeze as much speed out of it as possible. Going to run cat5 wired direct to the phone box outside and 'RJ' (11 I think) plug crimped on end to the modem. How much loss is there from line length? I would like to have the modem and wireless boxes upstairs. To do that its probably a 30 ft run. I could mount the DSL downstairs and then Ethernet to the wireless upstairs. That would make the initial run about 15 ft. Wondering if that 15 ft shorter is enough to gain anything.
So for best DSL speed, you want a home run. A Cat5 wire that goes from the MPOE, minimum point of entry. AKA "side of the house" You want a whole house DSL filter. I can send you one for nothing if you need. is a good video.
