Stop in for a cup of coffee

You are younger, thats why it is less expensive. Force your self to put an additional $80 per month into an IRA or savings, You will thank me when your'e 60...LOL
That's actually very close to my 2018 goal. By end of the year, i want to be putting 100 a month into an IRA on top of maxing out my employer match. they'll match up to 7% of pay dollar for dollar plus 50% for an additional 3%, meaning they'll match 7.5% if i put in 10%, giving me 17.5 percent going into the 401k. Right now until i get some stuff paid off, im putting 6%, they're putting 6% of my pay into it.

I think you are thinking of IRA's. Of course there may be some Whole Life Co's out there with that rider in their policy...
I know Farmer's had that when i sold for them, but I don't recall the details. I know state law says age 80, whole lives must pay out if you're still living.

Yup.. No better time to save...than when you are young....When I was in my 20's I was buying and investing in my business, which really paid off for me when I was 44

Morning all, Off work today, fell on some ice Saturday, out cold, woke up in the Hospital. Concussion and neck trauma, still sore as hell. So easy day drinking coffee and kicking back.

Ouch that sounds very painful and could have been much worse. When you think about it, so many broken bones and deaths caused when people lose their footing on ice.

You've heard the story of my Dad, the way he made the money to pay for college is because the man in his town who fixed all the radios, broke his hip falling on ice, and when he was dying of pneumonia, gave my Dad his tool kit and supplies and said "now you're the one to fix the radios." Imagine I got to grow up as an engineer's son in Florida all because a man stepped on the wrong spot on his front steps.

I got a late start on saving (there were drugs and alcohol to be bought). I started several years back putting 10% of gross pay into 401k (company managed). The dollars added up real fast and you really don't miss the money you don't see. Sure wish I'd started that crap when I was 20!

You have to be aware too the insurance companies consider your age to be whatever age you are going to be that particular year. Let's say you turn 30 this March well they consider you to be in your 30th year already and those rates apply now.

hey, you might know this. Looking at a vacation option, somewhere on the beach, any recommendations in SC?

Pretty much the same, Busy in season
yeah but i like not having to deal with hotels. Rental houses are so much nicer. May just go back to Destin. We'll see. I've got 6 months to figure it out

Chris if you want to be near Myrtle Beach but want a cleaner beach, Pawley's is nice. I actually have never been to Myrtle Beach except for the time I met my WWII Veteran friend for dinner. Where I live is very quiet and the beach is very clean and more calm for kids, and it's super quiet and relaxing here. But, it's a hike into Charleston or much in the way of family restaurants, you'd want to have a place with a kitchen, and make your own food, there is a regular supermarket here. Google 169 High Hammock Villas, the unit above me, there's a chance too the owner would give a more favorable rate since I know you. It's about the same as a standard hotel room in Charleston where you'd have to drive back and forth to the beach.

Since we started renting cabins/condos etc we usually cook 85 percent of the time, saves big money with 3-4 mouths to feed. Means we can normally get a nicer place. I'm bookmarking this. How colds the water in mid May ?

Mid May the water is not warm, when Keith and Kim were here in early May, we went in, it was brisk but fun. There is a pool too, though I have never tried it, it's popular.

May try talking the wife into waiting until September if we go that route. We went in mid September back in 2012, water was perfect, temps were perfect and not very busy as it was just past the peak with all school back in session

I have to say the water is very comfortable even till mid-October. You've seen my posts here where I've been at the beach.

You're welcome. I would be very pleased to meet you and your family. I hope my landlord renews my lease come Sept. 1, if that doesn't happen I wouldn't be quite so nearby.
