Been driving too long with the busted connector tab. It made it to the top of the to do list yesterday. Unfortunately the replacement didn't have a new foam seal it. Will call around to see if Evans or someone sells them. Looks and feels like soft styrofoam

Last year I finally bought a decent crimper - the Astro with the replacable jaws. But the jaws were too wide for the male terminals on the jeep. So I broke down and bought a Packard copy from American Wire. Haven't used them yet. I will when I get to the connections at the ballast resistor. I made a solder repair years ago to the original wires when the repop was shpoing too much resistance and causing the voltage regulator run a bit high.
 
I bought one of these sets was /is really nice to have.

Fudges - the taped wires are soldered - thats the ones in use.
The stacked ones from the repop - might have been my attempt to fix or might have been an oops. Can't remember.
Side by side is the way it should be. Can do that with the right crimpers. That's a packard 56 female.

That's a good way to do it.
I first only knew about Waytek wire, so ended up with bags of terminals since they have minimum quantities. Connectors I've only been buying as needed. For the car I can often steal from the old harness. I've melted a few - the headlight sockets and headlight switch. That was the big incentive to get the headlights onto relays. About every A-body I owned had some sort of headlight circuit issue.
 
You can tell by the crimp some one changed them at some point.
You know anything is possible. That car had a lot of miles on it when I bought it. With three carpets worn through, two seat covers worn through and a red and blue slant six it could have had 150 or 250,000 miles on it. The rest seemed all original but who knows.
 
DMC crimpers are the best but not cheap we had a tool box set think it cost 20k in the airforce.
 
The ones Ray have look like they are easier to get into tight spots with than the set I have.
 

Not cheap but worth every penny when you do it most of the day. Hell some of the alumel/chromel connecters were a grand and you had one shot to do it right.
 
They work ok the only issue I really have with them is it is a two step process that you have to flip the crimper to get the crimp right and the tabs on the male terminals are really tight to the crimper.
 
Pretty excited, going to my young former coworker's wedding at one of the plantations here, three of us from work are invited but our boss said none of us could be off, then he said one of us could, now finally last night he said all three of us can go!
I got part of the Fury buffed and waxed, by hand of course. Seems like green is hard to keep looking fresh. I think I will do the trunk this morning!
 
Sounds like the boss is a ***! How can you wait for the last minute to let some one know if they can go to a wedding!

He is actually a good guy, but yes a lot of restaurant managers are asses. Because of Easter weekend and Spring break, he was afraid we'd be super busy, and we would be very short-handed, and we don't have extra staff which is a good thing, too many and we wouldn't make money. For some reason we have been kind of slow. The restaurant business is so unpredictable.
