Can't remember when I had three years to go to retire...Cause I was only 41 at that time......
And I thought I was young at 50, but that's just how my retirement system is. Of course I retired and volunteered for a deployment, but only because the wife's Army Guard unit had been deployed. Didn't feel like being retired and sitting around for a year by myself.
Wow what a retirement trip that was!!. Wasn't my first deployment. Sometimes I asked WTF is a 50 year old guy doing here...haha.

Guess i could start collecting pension at 55. That would be in june. $3.49 wont buy much.
I have to work until old age pension kick in.

Yup WTF am I doing with all these kids!

Where were you?
We were based in Qatar. I had teams at the major Air Bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a Navy ship.
I made the rounds checking on them and the air units they supported.
It was good living as Army guys working for the Air Force and Navy.
We briefed pilots supporting the Army operations explaining what the Army was doing and what to expect they'd see on the ground.

What free medical?
Don't you get Tricare?? There are some out of pocket deductibles for family policy. Its minimal compared to the civilian market.
If you have VA, you can get medical services including prescriptions based on your % of disability.
