Rusty if I get one will let you know first. A lot of times on the old ones you can clean the contacts with a burnishing tool or sandpaper and re set the gaps.

Mine is workin good right now. I was wantin a "good" replacement just in case.

Hey for all you retirees the Eagles landed today!! (money in the bank for all you time clock punchers).
As you know or don't know got a house full with daughter, SNL, and grand kids in from Japan (Air Force) for a month.
Left the crew at home last night, and took Cheryl out to eat and a couple cold ones for my B-Day dinner.
Yes, we had a dinner and cake Sunday night.
Love them, but enjoyed some peace and quiet...lol!!

One great thing about living in a town...or village of about 1000 people....cops are only on duty during certain hours....so I had to move the Duster tonight...ssoooo, I drove it around town for about a half an hour...no bumpers, no hood, no plates, seat not bolted in...hell!! Its not even registered or in my name.....sure was nice to drive around though.......lol

I live on a state route. So no 'safe' time. I was waiting for one to pop out when I finally drove it a minute up the road for first inspection.

I do it all the time. I get a whole roll of 320 emery cloth, wrap it around whatever journal I want to polish, sit on the floor put a foot on each end of the crank and pull it back and forth with moderate pressure. Rotate 180* rinse and repeat. Replace emery cloth as needed. I'd do a how to on it, but I'd get laughed at.

Lathe on a roll.

PB blaster has a good smell to it.

Never tried the seafoam stuff.

Pb blaster comes out on sale every once in a great while.

PB Blaster stinks

Kano Kroil is another good one but pricey. I use it over anything else to loosen bolts.

Smells way better than PB

Does anyone know if there is a significant weight difference between a 170 cu.in. slant six with 3 speed manual and a 225 cu.in. slant six and A904 automatic transmission ?

With the 904 being lighter (unless you have aluminum belhousing or trans case on the standard)

yeah, thats what I was thinking. I know the 904 comes in about 75-80 pounds, the 3/4 speeds are about 115-120 pounds with their iron cases., add another 15 pounds difference in the clutch/flywheel over the the torque converter, probably 5 pounds difference in the linkages, then there's the extra 2-3 pounds for the extra pedal.

Taller 225 block is about 20lbs more. Will be a difference in crank weight if cast or forged. 75+ heads weigh more than earlier....

The reason for asking is that the car I have now with the 225 feels so much heavier to steer than the station wagon with the 170 cu.in. I realize my steering wheel is only 13.5 inches compared to the original 16 inches, but did not think it would represent that much of a difference. I might be wrong, or my memory might play a trick here too.

the smaller wheel can cause that. as for weight, Allpar lists both the 170 and the 225 at 475 lbs in full trim, the later light weight intake version for the dart lite and feather dusters at 450 pounds
