Stop in for a cup of coffee

It's Wild Bill Wednesday!

Good morning :D

With my age (66) my A1C was starting to creep in the wrong direction the last couple years. I decided the first of the year to watch better what I ate.
I basically cut out 90% of my current carb intake (all the bad stuff) limited the alcohol intake and continue to be active every day.
The first couple weeks I dropped a few pounds. The next three weeks nothing. I knew it didn't go on overnight, so it wasn't gonna come off overnight. I weighed in today and had dropped 7 pounds in about two weeks for a total of 16 pounds in seven weeks. About 15 more and I'll reach my goal.
I feel better dropped a shirt size and two inches off the gut line. Another five weeks before I go in for a A1C test.
What I'm doing is easy and becoming a daily normal process.

I am also 66. Far as I know my A1C was okay last time I checked. I don't know if it's just my metabolism or what?. But I can eat what I want and drink all the beer I want and I still am at 189 lb at 6 ft tall. Maybe it has to do with the food in Vietnam because I do lose a few pounds when I'm here. Usually I'm 194 or 197 in America. I did have to tighten my belt up one notch since I've been here. But shirt sizes are still XL. I guess that ain't too bad for a guy that's 66.

Morning everyone. 5deg and snowing, I'm so tired of this stuff. Good news is the coffee is on and going down good.

Nope overall I think we do better than most our age. I still play competitive year-round softball, cardio tennis, golf, workout etc...
A couple years ago I just picked up too much junk food, eating out too much, wrong portion sizes etc... All easy fixes if you want.

Figure I shouldn't low idle too much or the carbon will build up.

When i was in my early 40's i went diabetic (thanks coke!) and they wanted to put me on metformin and all that.. i ended up cutting out sugar/carbs 100% and working out, dropped my a1c fast, no more diabetes and felt amazing... I ended up on Keto for bout a year and never felt better in my life.. i had to stop though cause i got too skinny. Went from 250 to 146# in 7 months.. Right now i'm so addicted to sugar (Chocolate) that it's just horrible.. can't seem to break it again.

I miss working out.. i used to mountain bike 5 days a week through some rough trails til 2 years ago, had a bad crash and shattered my shoulder/socket and arm down to the elbow... can't do **** anymore :( I did use the rowing machine last night though.. i need to get into that habit. I miss riding sooo much

Funny dark chocolate is ok for diabetics. I'm sure though there is a daily limit. I've never been a candy eater.

Yoga!!

Too bad you aren't closer, I upgraded my spin bike, I'd give you my old one. Good, low impact since you're not absorbing impacts like mountain biking.

I'm eating a 60ct of lindor truffles every week... plus granola bars after breakfast which are pure sugar... it's pretty bad right now.. i'm back upto 180# i feel like a massive fatass :( I blame the weed.... it makes me want more chocolate...

I actually gave mine away when i got the rower.. I got a Concept2 D rower and it's more of a work out than the bike since i'm hitting a lot more muscle groups.. I didn't expect it to be as hard as it is though.. 30 mins on my bike was not bad.. 15 mins on the rower is just pain..

I think working out after 40 plus years just becomes a part of the day. I've lapsed before and felt awful when I did. Just easier to do it.

In Vietnam I'm up every morning at 4:00 a.m. to get my **** together then I have to take her to her yoga class. Then I go work out alone for an hour and a half or so. Go eat breakfast, drink some coffee pick her up at 8:00 a.m. Then it's on after that. Anything goes. Lol

I'm ok. Been having lots of headaches, but it's my own damn fault. I kinda got hooked on soft drinks again and now I've broken the curse, but I gotta pay for it a little while.
Been there going through the cold Turkey ween off again

Here ya go...

I think I will throw a tarp over the cab of the old truck. At least the doors won't freeze shut and the windows will be clear if I need to use it. I would rather drive around in it than my new truck if it get's slippery. I will need to strap the tarp down though. It is supposed to get windy. I see a wintery mix is forecasted here until early tomorrow morning. Damn!
Spray the door gaskets , widow tracks, and door locks with WD40.
