I have been interested in what you shared here about health and weight. I have always been very healthy, but always a little worried, cause I will eat or drink anything I like. And have done so for many years. Peaked my interest when you brought up the A1C thing. Also have been worried about my liver numbers since I do like to drink a lot of Beer. Just had my annual Dr visit 2 weeks ago. And they usually have to press me to come in once a year. Anyhow, I was pleased to see that all of my bloodwork came back normal. A1C was only 5.2, cholesterol numbers were low, and liver checks ok. i really dont know why I am not less healthy. But listening to people talk about us getting older and sicklier makes me want to stay up more on my health. I know the Hammer will drop on me one day !!!
Well stay on it and also look at the kidney function. I always ate and drank whatever and then my A1C slowly climbed up the scale. It was just into the type 2 range, and I simply ignored it. Finally, the first of the year it made a jump and I decided enough was enough and made the change. I want to get it back into the 4's and eventually off the meds or at least a very small dose. I guess the metformin has many side benefits.

Yeah, She checked everything , including kidney function. Since I only go once a year, she usually throws the book at me. Like I have said before at 5'11 my weight is 188lbs and never varies by more than 6 or 7 lbs. Goes down , mostly when Im in VN. Pretty sure its the better food. The daily exercise helps also. That would be true for anybody though. I think the deal with me is that, I am small boned, and was a very skinny kid. 130lbs at HS graduation. Didnt like being so skinny so I began to eat lots of protein and started working out and lifting weights at age 21. Now going on 67 in a few months, but feeling much younger.........edit... Long as I dont drink too much and get hungover....LOL....

I’m so called diabetic and doc wants me at around 165lbs. I’m usually around 168 and I don’t gain any more. On meds but I have a hard time not eating the stuff I’m not supposed to eat

I'm not a doctor but I don't think 3# would make any difference. :BangHead: :BangHead:

Just a few months older than you 6'1 and 195 big built shoulders and legs and always lifted weights. I could carry an extra 20 well but not the extra 45 pounds I've been carrying the last five years. I feel so much better no food cravings and feel it won't be hard to maintain. I still have food treats from time to time and a few toddies throughout the week. Just have to maintain moderation, exercise, and enjoy life.
