Today besides being anniversary from WW2 is also our annual reenactment anniversary for battle of Prairie Grove during Civil War. Not exactly a day of infamy but yet another reminder of the many non impact stalemate battles that incurred huge loss of life for zero tactical advantage. They battled for two days ultimately exhausting each others supplies for no clear Victor. The Southern Army had to withdraw in middle of the night back thru the valley (Greasy Valley Rd) where our home sits, back towards Ft Smith. The loss of life was staggering. I simply cannot imagine going to my Captain at end of the day and reporting I had lost hundreds of men that day. We are about to head out and attend the reenactment. Nothing romantic about men killing each other in War.

Just when you think canning season is over. Oranges for canning and we mix peels up with vinegar for household cleaner.

I had a solution at the rock farm that was used as a release agent in trucks hauling asphalt that was made of citrus peels  It would actually dissolve asphalt oil  . However, it smelled so good I had a rag in a tin can soaked with it under the seat of my truck that made the truck smell so nice like oranges

We all made it to this sunny Saturday it seems, high of 55 .
That war took both my grandfather's, grandma Mable never forever the the Japanese, she said grandpa was a very tall man , 6' 3" or more, she was 5' tall on a good day. All us boys (4 of us) landed at me being the tallest at 5' 10 when I was 25.
