Stop in for a cup of coffee

My wife used to tell me I only hear what I want to hear, and I would answer her back with, SURE I'LL HAVE A BEER!

Ours got shut down after a derecho damaged the cooling towers. It was online from 1975-2020.
Diablo Canyon near here, it is shut down also. One summer mid 80s, we worked 7 12s mining bigass rock to rebuild their break water that demolished by a winter storm the previous winter. One of those rocks was so large our biggest loader could not move it  . One day it finally just got to be too much in the way in the quarry. Big loader got a bite on it enough to keep it in the bucket. Just one problem with that, operator put any lift into it, rear wheels on tractor 3' off the ground. "Alex! get down here and watch the trucks!" I was on top of the hill doing a chore. I go haulin' *** down the hill to the yard. At the quarry I see yard loader with his bucket pressing down on the rear bumper of the quarry loader so they could move that frickin' rock . When finally they decided to ship it to Diablo, they had to get a 45 ton crane and a low bed truck and pilot cars to move that monster to the beach

Damn, that's huge rock.

Damn, that's huge rock.
 On the trailer to weigh it at our scale house, they had to pull the truck on the scales at one end of the scale and weigh that end. Then they had to get off that end, go around the scale house to the other end and back the trailer axles on to the scale to be weighed. There was not enough room next to the scale house to drive the entire thing on the scale. It was like 22 ton if I remember right.

So I was going to take a morning nap. Then remembered I had to mail a few things out.
In hindsight not a really smart move.
Well at least no tickets . Just a warning.

Oh no. Your lucky day. Did you stop and buy a lottery ticket?

Goes both ways around here

Good morning, FABO! We thought we’d say hello and post a few pictures of some of our progress. Cleaned, painted, replaced, front end suspension complete with Bergman tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower control arm bushings, strut rod bushings, rebuilt and honed wheel cylinders, shocks, Timken wheel bearings and upgraded .87 torsion bars. (All rubber soft goods, Everything is mostly just mocked up and loose until final adjustment, hopefully a sway bar one day and then set back down and some engine weight in it)

I even had the privilege of my youngest (7yo) blessing us with her mechanical aptitude and convenient size to crawl in and around the engine bay WITH EASE to help with the steering box, pitman and idler and center link! (Gloves, glasses and pink crocs a must) Chrysler really should have insisted on a height requirement for a fella to get in those hard to reach places during assembly, haha! But I’m counting my blessings for my youngsters being happy and willing to help me turn a few wrenches! We’re hoping to finish up the front brakes, lines and maybe get the drums on and adjusted soon!

Hoping that all of you are well and enjoying the new year! Thank you everyone for your help and expertise and sharing your parts and pieces with us in seeing us this far with our build! Happy wrenching!

That's great. Those memories with you little helper are priceless.

I didn't know our military had a mini space shuttle, but it landed here early yesterday morning after over a year in orbit.

No passengers just electronics. First time a shuttle has used that strip since they added 5000' to it 40 years ago. They almost used it for one of the late shuttle missions due to bad weather I think it was in the east. I saw it comin', then I heard the sonic boom as it passed when they decided they wanted to play in the desert at Edwards AFB  . There was somebody trying to get the USAF to let them use all that concrete for land-speed activities but it was unsuccessful :(
