Agree, I'm keeping it.I woldn't get rid of that though.... 30 seconds of grinding a V and someone with a Tig welder and it's fixed... they aren't the easiest part to find...
I know a good TIG welder!I woldn't get rid of that though.... 30 seconds of grinding a V and someone with a Tig welder and it's fixed... they aren't the easiest part to find...
Send it to me I will weld it up for ya.Agree, I'm keeping it.

The sleuthing and research has taken some time.Hows the trans coming btw? did you get thinner clutches so you can fit more in the drums? 1 extra disc is a lot more clamping force....
The sleuthing and research has taken some time.
There ain't JACK standard on these transitional years, then add the mid-year introduction of the V8 which led to all sort of shenanigans and changes.
Output shaft machining changed (tapered sooner to accommodate the bearing)
Tailshaft casting changed length
Output shaft bearing was introduced to replace the copper bushing in the tailshaft
Trunnion flange changed
It is ready to go back together. I'm happy with how things went. I'm hyper careful so that makes everything take longer. I did find thrust washers out of spec, missing springs and some broken rings on the accumulator and kick down servo, so things should be super tight to start out.
Also, found that the front pump on the /6 transmission had been beat up. Pretty sure you realize, but the early 904 pumps don't have the tapped holes to pull them neatly with a slide hammer, so you have to get in behind it and tap it loose. Someone went a bit nuts so it had a bunch of gouges and cuts.
Way smarter on all this than when I started.
I'm thinking about kinda gathering an early A pushbutton addendum to Tom Hand's book. I took notes on the things that were different as I was going along.
Yeah, and then there was 64/65 with mismatched stuff tooYeah..nfo bout pushbutton trans isn't fun to get.. and less and less guys know bout them... DVW on fbbo is the man if you ever have a question... he know every bit bout them.
And transition years are a mess.. my '62 is a veyr early build.. which uses a 61 K-frame/transmount setup.. which are 100% different then normal 62+....
Proud papa moment. When your son hits 10/10 at 50 yards with a 22. Then backs it up with another 10/10
